hey guys long time,
i write today about a very worrisome problem, speaker rattle.
some history, '09 4.6 genesis with tech pkg. I listen to a lot of house music (dance/electronic) and sometimes rap. the current setting for the low/bass range is 3 ticks to a complete max out of bass.
i've had this car for about 14 months now, and the speaker rattling problem became first apparent in the fall of '10, around sept/oct time. at first it was a very gentle rattle which i gave fault to a low quality mp3 file. but i continued to really make use of the 500w, 17 speaker system and gradually the speaker rattle became almost a constant.
when i listen to music, on avg the volume # ranges from 10-12. when i feel like going out or enjoy a song i crank it to 14-18. and when i go out on weekends i sometimes crank it to 20-24. but for the owners of the tech pkg, you guys know that even at these ranges, it doesn't even utilize HALF the volume range that is given. i think max is like 50 or something.
my mileage is at 13K, and the next time i go in is right before 15K, so that i can utilize my stereo warranty if need be.
my question to you guys is, i'm sure some of us here really put to test the amazing sound system of our tech pkg cars, do you guys also ever sense a rattle?
the rattles are coming from the back-mid (sub woofer?) speaker, and the back sides speakers. never the front or tweeters. some tones of deep bass does not set off a rattle. but the average bass/snare combo does set it off.
please help with advice, and share your experiences with speaker rattling. its just not right for a luxury car to have this problem.
is it easy of a fix as telling the dealership to just tighten all the speakers? what causes speaker rattle? do you think my speakers can be replaced?
