  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Oceanside, CA to Palm Springs, CA round trip less than a half tank of gas. Trip meter said 329.1 miles, needle was just a half hair above the half hash mark on the fuel gauge - must of had a hel of a tail wind, that's almost an average of 33 mpg!

So lets see what everyone else is getting on some road trips?(!)

does temp seem to make a difference? i do notice better mileage with premium. Anyone else?

I doubt that you can accurately read the amount of fuel used by looking at the fuel gauge.

What did your digital MPG readout say?? I just drove from NC to FL with two fill ups and averaged 26.6 on my 2010 4.6.

I drove 10 miles the other day right after filling up and got 34.4mpg. First time that's ever happened.

Wind, terrain, altitude, driving conditions, traffic- highway or stop and go- wide variables here.

3.8- 33.5 to 19MPG.

Same 300 mile highway trip changes everytime depending on time of year, rain, wind, do I have snows on, etc. Best can be 33.5MPG- worst 26.75 MPG

I've only had the car since Nov. 2011 but just returned from a 110 mile trip from Anaheim to Alpine and got 27mpg. That's running in cool air 57-60F and on regular gas. My mph average was close to 75. Pretty happy with it.

I already know of a long downhill road, and I consistently get similar mileage on it. Now to figure out how to use that road to get to _any_ desired destination...

Is it "Photoshop"? I also have it. Works WONDERS.

I have this gas station up on a hill, when I fill up and drive home my average is awesome...

You can do better than that - all the way up to 99.9 MPG. Just press the reset button on the steering wheel for more than a second and coast for a bit.

Your probably right, I had had 4 margaritas!

yep all kidding aside guys/folks. It's a pretty bad-@ss car to get and average of higher than 25mpg!

I just made the entire trip from Atlanta to Orlando 478 miles on one tankful with a little bit left; hand calculated mileage was 27.8 mpg (computer said 26.7). However, around town it is only 20 to 21 mpg.
Man, that was great except I got a rock chip from the truck in front. Oh well, called the windshield repair guy and $55 later it looks alright.

I traveled 283.4 miles and comsumed 11.08 gallions of fuel to top off the tank. 238.4 divided by 11.08 = 25.57 MPG.
Forget the digital MPG indicator because that i just a sampling of MPG at that point in time.
Miles traveled divided by fuel used is the real MPG.
