  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tesla -> GV60 transition tips?

There might be something wrong. I occasionally notice a jolt when stopping, but not with starting.
I mentioned it at the dealership but they just recommended I try doing the lvl 0 regen thing for the brakes on the highway (friction cleaning the brakes).

Tried, and it did nothing.

Its the main reason i went back to auto regen. If i stopped using the brakes, depressing the brake doesn't jolt.

I’m confused, are you talking about starting or stopping? Stopping does have an occasional jolt as it transfers between motor and physical brakes. I’ve only noticed a jolt when starting with Auto Hold, but that’s somewhat expected.

The regen setting will not make a difference with starting movement.

Im talking about starting. I have the opposite issue as you. Autohold seems to make it jolt less when starting. I mentioned auto regen because I was previously using ipedal, which goes to a full stop without using the brake pedal. Pressing the accelerator causes it to do a small jolt forward. If I use the brake pedal to come to a complete stop (with auto hold off) Depressing the brake starts creeping forward again, and that doesn't cause a jolt. And my tests with Auto Hold On also doesn't jolt when I start accelerating, as long as it stopped using the brake pedal, and not the left paddle.

Ive driven both the g80 and gv70 electrified as loaners. They don't do that at all. Maybe I should arrange to test drive another gv60 and see if theres a difference.

It’s not just you - as I’ve mentioned previously, the GV60’s throttle, transitions and braking simply aren’t as well calibrated as Tesla’’s.

I definitely notice the jolt when starting, but I haven’t checked to see whether I have Auto Hold on or off. FWIW, Tesla has the equivalent of Auto Hold, but no jolt like this.

I’m still not sure that I understand, but are you saying that when leaving from a stop with Auto Hold on it jolts less than with it off?

With Auto Hold On there is definitely more resistance to moving forward than I’d like, which is why I always keep it disabled. It requires quite a bit of pressure on the accelerator to overcome the brake hold. However, every vehicle, ICE and EV, I’ve driven with this feature seems to operate this way so I’ve always assumed that it’s how all vehicle with Auto Hold function.

With Auto Hold Off, it’s perfectly smooth to start moving every time.

I turned off Auto Hold, and now the annoying jolt is gone. I definitely prefer keeping my foot on the brake at a stop light over having that jolt.

We took our first long-ish drive on Friday (about 200 miles). A few more impressions:
  • Wow, having CarPlay navigation (I use Apple Maps) on both screens and in the HUD is great. I had no idea that this was a thing, but it’s a huge upgrade over any previous way I’ve navigated in any car. So easy to see what’s happening at a glance.
  • We stopped to charge once - wasn't really needed, but I wanted to try it out before being in a situation where the stakes were higher. When I was about 30 miles away, I tried to set up native navigation to the charger to test out preconditioning, but I couldn’t get it to show me chargers that far away. Maybe I should have set up a route home first, and then added a charging stop?
  • No surprise, but starting/stopping charging wasn’t as seamless as with Tesla. Looking forward to Plug and Charge arriving at some point. I did sign up for EVGo’s version of it, so it will be interesting to try that next time.
  • For parking in tight spots, I still haven’t totally internalized the size and shape of this car, i.e. how close I am to scraping something when the car starts dinging at me. I do miss the Tesla display showing exactly how many inches the closest edge is from an obstacle.
  • Overall, it was a comfortable ride. Very happy with my purchase so far!
And in other good news, we sold the Tesla on Friday. 🙂 Back to just one car in the driveway.

To set the native navigation system to a charging location, try using the voice command. This will require that you know where the charger is located that you wish to use. For example, while displaying the map, you might push the voice command button and say something like, "Electrify America near Pottstown Pennsylvania". It ...should... give you a list of EA chargers near there. You might even be able to say something like, "EV charging near Pottstown Pennsylvania" and be presented with a list from which you may choose.

Don't know if it is what you are looking for, but there are several camera views available when you select the parking camera. We use the birds eye view on the right half and the front tire look on the left half. That way I know exactly how far I am from the curb and a rough idea (not perfect) of my proximity to other objects. We also like it for determining if we are centered in our parking spot.
