  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thank You from HMA

Received a letter in the mail today from Hyundai Motor America thanking me for making my Genesis sedan purchase. The letter mentioned the various sites which have reviewed the Genesis. They also included a copy of the the February 2009 Consumer Reports magazine in which CR has tested the Genesis. The real surprise was attached at the bottom of the letter. It was a coupon for $50 which can be used towards maintenance, parts, or accessories. The coupon is good through the end of September. A nice gesture and quite a surprise.

I received the same letter in today's mail and was one second away from tossing it in the trash when the words "As a gift of appreciation" caught my eye in the last paragraph. Nice touch indeed. Can't help but wonder if some other owners will go rummaging through their trash as a result of this thread.

Several years ago, when I purchased my Acura, after about 6 months, I received a similar letter and a $100 gas card (Visa gift card type deal.) Nice gesture. Hyundai is trying and that is more than can be said for many other manufacturers. Now if they can get the suspension re-tuned and the electrical gremlins addressed they will likely become a real force to be reckoned with.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Suspension issues, maybe. But what are these electrical gremlins you speak of?

Interesting.

I purchased my Genesis about 10 days ago and I have not received:

(1) A follow up call from Hyundai.
(2) A call from the dealership or sales department asking about my car.
(3) Anything from Hyundai at all.

When purchasing a Lexus, Acura or Infiniti in the past, the guy who sold me the car or manager would always call within 24-48 hours to make sure everything was going well. The service department or customer service group would call to see if I needed anything or had any questions.

I guess it concerns me a bit that this is the way things will be?

I got the letter today too - but not the Consumer Reports article..

I purchased my car in December and the first I heard from anyone was in late January/early February. I see you have had experiences with higher end products just like I have. When I purchased a Lexus vehicle, I heard from them, dealer and corporate, within days. Hyundai will get it, and so will you . . . . . . .eventually.;)

The Consumer Reports item is more than just the article. Hyundai sent me the entire magazine about two weeks ago that featured the write-up on the Genesis. Hyundai apparently assumed I was a shopper and not an owner as of mid-January, or they were hoping I would pass the magazine along to a friend.

Coincidentally or not, in addition to the letter with the $50 gift certificate that arrived in today's mail, I also received the JD Powers new car questionnaire that included a crisp, new greenback, good for about three pints of high octane. I'm just hoping that tomorrow's mail doesn't contain something telling me that my $51 jackpot was an April Fool's joke!

I got the magazine late last week, but didn't carefully read the letter. Alas, it went out with the garbage pickup on Monday morning.

Don't feel bad. I purchased in early January and just very recently got the letter from Hyundai. I am not sure why they are sending me the Consumer Reports review, since I already bought the car.

I did get a letter from my dealer about 10 days after purchase thanking me for using their service department (which I have not done yet). No mention of the purchase in the letter.

Someone at the dealer also called me about 2 weeks after purchase asking if I needed any more information about Hyundai vehicles to to help me decide on my car purchase. I was not amused.

I also received the magazine last week but the letter with the coupon arrived separately today, so they are not necessarily combined. Hopefully, your coupon is still on the way!

Voice activation killing sound from stereo; DIS becoming unresponsive (while Nav still works); Bluetooth permenatly muting the stereo.

These are all things I have read here.

Got It!

I got to thinking though...all of my maint. is taken care of for two years (basically oil changes and car washes whenever I want them) and after asking for an accessory brochure...all they said that was available were the wing badges, an official korean tag for the front of the car, and a chrome tag for the front that says "Genesis." Well, that stinks.

C'mon Hyundai, give me a hat or something! LOL

I received my Consumer Reports issue from Hyundai last week, and received the thank you letter/$50 rebate today in a separate envelope. It was a standard-sized envelope that looks like mail you'd throw away.

You are correct. My coupon arrived today separate from the magazine.

I received my thank you from HMA yesterday. Received the Consumer Report and the $50 coupon. I purchased my 4.6 Black/Black & tan with DIS the second week of December.

I also got the $50 coupon in the mail this week. I think it is a great gesture by Hyundai and let's me sneak in an early oil change. I have 3500 miles now and was just about to get one done. Now it is no brainer. Good job by Hyundai by inviting you to thier service department vs. using a competitive oil change facility.

The coupon I received is not valid until June 1st, 2009.

Ditto. Mine says it is good from June 1st through Sept. 30th. I would probably have to get in line if I wanted to cash mine in on a June 1st or 2nd oil change, so I'll wait until the dust settles.

Could be worse...I bought last August...the dealer called me up to ask me how I was enjoying my new 325 BMW!!!!

Hmmm....that's an interesting name for a Genny!
