  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We have that one configurable Star button in the center stack.

Still deciding what to assign to it.

If you own a G70...what did you do? Or what are you thinking of doing?

Screen shut-off. The only other viable option for me is Phone Mirroring (CarPlay/Android Auto), but that can be accessed via the main menu or by pressing MEDIA, and I'm often listening to audio off my phone anyway. I like the screen shut-off because at this time of year, the last 15 km (9.3 mi) or so of my commute are on a dark stretch of highway. Killing the display helps see better in the dark, not that it's necessarily an issue with the incredible headlights.

Doesn't long press of the volume button shut off the screen or am I imagining that it does?

Great that it can be used to trigger so many items. I'm likely to use it to flip to Android Auto.

That's how I use the button in my Optima - haven't found a need to assign it to anything else.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Don't have my car yet but I'll be programming it to access Android Auto for sure..

Android auto/Apple car play. So much easier with it like that
I wish Android Auto worked via Bluetooth and not via USB cord only. What do you guys use to mount your phones and in what part of the AC vents (or elsewhere) do you guys mount it on?

Bumping this old thread to see what other uses people are using the custom button for...

Set to "Home" because it feels like the home screen is more useful than any other (unless you want a large map display)

I use Home. I know there is a Home button on every screen but it's easier for me to have the dedicated button that I don't have to think about.

As far as I know the only company which has wireless Carplay (and soon Android Auto) is BMW and they've had a lot of technical issues from what I've heard.

Also, my star button is Android Auto as well.

Apparently I'm dumb and didn't realize there's a home button on each screen. I may have to reconsider my setting lol
