  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is Hyundai/Kia motor group going to discontinue the 3.3tt engine production?
From what I understand is that they are building the new 3.5TT for efficiency reason. Is there a potentially major issue with the current 3.3TT cooling system? Or other issues that we have to be aware of on the 3.3TT engine?

We had major issue with our genesis because Hyundai didnt have engine parts for the 4.6. It took over 4 months to rebuild the 4.6. Horrible experience, but it still didn’t keep us from wanting the genesis.

no issues with the 3.3TT

no issues with the 3.3TT
The 3.3TT had a recall for a certain manufacturing time period to have a connection replaced. No internal parts or problems at all.

Getting parts for old engines is almost always a problem. Glad you got it back together though.

yes, but they are not getting rid of it because of 'problems' which was OPs question

The 3.5TT is supposed to be a slight upgrade in terms of fuel economy and power, but was not needed because of something wrong with the 3.3TT.

Getting parts now during Corona.....yea we're all in the same boat for anything coming overseas

The 3:3 engine I thought had been out for a while too so it’s not like it’s a new engine design. The biggest plus I read on the 3.5 engine was I think it has both direct injection and manifold injection so you have the best of both worlds to keep the intake system clean. The slight power increase of the 3.5 is no big deal to me. The 3.3 is almost exactly what I was used to on my Infiniti G37 and it’s 3.7 engine for MPG so I have no grips there.

Thank you for your responses. I believe the 3.3TT debuted in the G90 in 2017. So, it is still fairly new which is why Hyundai’s decision to build new 3.5TT engines make me skeptical about getting their car with the 3.3TT. Especially after the experience of owning the 4.6 (which supposedly a bullet proof engine), would I be screwed if something went wrong with the 3.3TT engine? I guess the wise action will be to wait. Thank you everyone.

Actually the 3.3 Lambda first gen engine came out in 2006. There have been variants of the Lambda over the years all the way up to the Lambda ll engine GDI twin turbo we know today. Before I purchased my G70 I tried to read as much as possible on this engine to get a comfort factor it was not going to give me a problem. I’m hoping there has been enough developmental engineering on today’s version that none of us have any major issues to worry about? We have good warranties if anything is needed.
