  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The G70 Is Dead. Discontinued as of the 2025 model.

Only the 20th time it's been discontinued... we'll see.

They can use something between the Sonata and G80 to round out the line. At one time they had the Azera and that seem to evolve to the G70.

I always wanted a G70 and had hoped for a eG70 to replace my GV60P in a couple years. Big bummer.

My wife has owned two Azeras. Excellent sedans. But they were a Hyundai model and it didn't make sense to have both a Hyundai luxury sedan and a Genesis mid-luxury sedan that would compete. I always thought it a bit strange that Kia (sister to Hyundai) had the Stinger that basically directly competed with the Genesis G70, but Hyundai had nothing after the Azera was gone. There are some things regarding Genesis marketing that puzzle me.

So yes, I agree with you that there needs to be something between the Hyundai Sonata and the Genesis G80. IMO it should be a Hyundai model. The Azera was an affordable mid-luxury sedan, much like the Genesis G70 is. The G70 is not as luxurious as the G80. Just look at the infotainment systems. The G70's is derived from the Hyundai model. The G80 (and GV70 SUV) are a big step up from the G70. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the G70 was discontinued after the 2025 MY, but then Genesis/Hyundai/Kia has a problem. Do they re-introduce a mid-size sedan as, say, a hybrid, as a "new" Hyundai model or do they retain the Kia Stinger and axe the G70. Remember that the rear seating is poor in the G70 (which is fine with me), but very nice in the Stinger hatchback.

It will be interesting to see what they do.

****UPDATE****
I was in for service last week and spoke with the general manager of my local Genesis stand-alone dealership, with whom I have a great relationship. The GM confirmed that they have been told the G70 is no longer in production and has been discontinued. The car will not be making a comeback. I will be keeping mine until the wheels fall off.

Awww man, that sucks.
I LOVE the G70 model. Too bad.

They have a back log of the 2.5, they are no longer producing the 3.3t and you will start to notice dealerships don’t have many in stock and non in transit as the production line is being changed over to the GV70. I am sad it gone- I am keeping my 2023 until the wheels fall off.

While there have been other rumblings, KCB is reporting that Genesis is working on a G70 replacement that's more spacious and having up to 600HP.

Likely means BEV and EREV (falls in line with Kia reviving the Stinger replacement).

Never bought the previous claim that didn't make sense to make the G70 replacement larger as it would step on the G80's toes, as the G80 is on the larger end for midsized sedans and the G70 is on the smaller side (plus can always make the next G80 more spacious).

Of course, things may change due to the whole tariffs fiasco, but automakers are planning for beyond the next 3.5 years.

Do you mean the Magma version?

^ Nope, totally different.

Seems like they're still debating on whether to do a G70 Magma, but that wouldn't entail any material changes regarding size, platform, powertrain, etc.

It sounds like the G70 Magma could bridge between the current car and a new one. I read that they may *just* sell the G70 in Magma trim at some point. I'm thinking 2027 MY and 2028 a new model.

^ Don't see how it would be any different from what the G80 Magma is to the rest of the G80 line.

2026 model is about to come out. just FYI. Should hit dealers this month. Nothing new for MY26. Actually features have been removed and packaging has been dumb-down.
