If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Genesis Bluetooth Audio ECHO Issue Discussion

Were both your iphones using the same os? I wonder about this because my new iphone has a similar problem but i'm not even connecting to anything. I'm just talking on the phone. I do have the phone on "speaker mode" where i don't need to hold the phone to my ear. That's the only time this happens and i wonder if it just has something to do with a recent ios update. i just got the phone last week.
I have a 2024 GV70 with the same issue. I have had to resort to using my earbuds while driving. It is too bad for the money spent to have this issue.

I know an exact solution for this.
First, go to iPhone shortcuts -> automation -> make two automations.
1. “When carplay connects, set bluetooth off”,
2. “When carplay disconnects, set bluetooth on”

Since carplay do not use bluetooth when you make a phone call(they use wifi or wire connection), you should disconnect bluetooth to reduce that echo and any microphone problem. If not, both carplay and bluetooth will try to use your microphone at the same time, which makes an annoying echo.
Hope this helps to solve your problem!

that did not work at all for me - same echo. seems the january sw update did nothing either

When I first stated using the iPhone in my car it was fine. Now every time I try to talk on it while in the car, the person on the other end complains of a strong echo. Phone is up to dat. Any idea how to address the echo?

I'm having the exact same issue, becoing very annoying.

I've checked all of the setting on the Iphone, and the settings within the vehicle, no luck.
I have to disconnect from carplay for it stopp echoeing on the other end.

The only way is not not use Car Play (assuming this is the problem) and just use the bluetooth phone in the car natively. Several on this site have this issue after a recent software update by Genesis. Search for echo in this sub forum and you will see others comment on this issue.

Same issue for me in my 2023 Genesis G80. Posting to this thread as I will be dropping my car off for maintenance today, including addressing this issue. I will let you know if I get a resolution.

Does anyone get this every time they plug in for CarPlay?

Soon as I plug in I lose my XM Radio. It’s as if both can’t be used.

How to avoid this?

I haven’t experienced that. I’ve only experienced the echo.

I have a 2024 GV80 Prestige Signature. After the most recent software update, when using my phone, the person on the other end of the line hears an echo of their own voice. I am told it makes it very difficult to impossible to have a conversation. Prior to the update, the issue did not exist. A few things to note:

1) I was using an Iphone 12Pro Max both before and after the update. Recently, I switched to an Iphone 15Pro Max. The issue still exists with the new phone. I also tried different cables, but no change.

2) It happens on bluetooth and Carplay. I typically use Carplay. I tried disconnecting bluetooth, but the issue still exists.

3) I have noticed that when I set the volume to 20, the person on the other end no longer hears the echo. The problem is, when set to that volume, I cannot hear the person while driving due to road noise.

4) The dealership tried updating the software, but that did not solve the issue. They now have ordered a new head unit.

Curious if anyone else had this issue and, if so, how was it resolved? I use the phone quite often for work while driving and need it fixed. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I am having the same issue. When I make phone calls, the person on the other end hears the echo. I've tried shutting off bluetooth but it still happens. I will try turning the volume down to 20. Hoping this issue is fixed soon. I, too, had a software update recently.

Agree! Plus Genesis knows it’s going on. You’d think they’d let us know when it’s going to be fixed.

Does anyone know if there has been a resolution to the ECHO? I was told by a genesis customer service person that Genesis is aware of the problem. When I make calls, the other person hears an echo when they talk. Happens with Bluetooth and CarPlay

Not being able to make a 21st century phone call in my $75k car is getting really irritating.

Anyone else?

It’s 3rd party controlled. It’ll take 90 days for them to have anything ready .
They have the 3rd party test it and put other fixes into it and then push it out. Takes much time to compile.

Yes I have the exact same issue. I called Genesis customer service and lady told me there were “working on it”. I was glad to know it wasnt not just me.
I was also very frustrated that Genesis hasn’t communicated that they know about it and when the resolution is coming.
Im a new genesis owner; was soooo excited for to be able to purchase a new luxury car - a huge financially leap for me.
Problems occur of course. However the lack of communication seems pretty non-luxury.

I'm researching this issue for my daughter. She has a GV80 and echo started on Tuesday, she works on the road and yes its irritating.

Just wanted to add that I'm having the same issue as well since the last update with my GV70. Makes taking calls useless. They really need to step up and get this fixed.

Can you share the contact info you used to tell them about the issue please?

Having more people reading this and having the contact info will help drive this as the complaints will go there and not just in this post.
It’ll add much value.

I talked to someone through the call button in my car. Of course there wasn’t an echo when I called through that. Irritating. But she did know about it. There’s got to be another customer service number. Good idea for everyone to call AND CALL FROM YOUR CAR! I’ll look into it more now..

Tip: the no echo is due to the call going out over Verizon LTE from the cars modem and not your phones modem.

It’s a direct line.

The CarPlay echo is from both mics being turned on when it should shut down one of them

I spoke to Genesis customer service twice in February. I was told to expect an update by the end of February or beginning of March . . . .

This is not only a convenience issue, but also a legal/safety issue. In my state, it is illegal to use your cell phone while driving and I never did so even before. Accordingly, if I am on the highway, it is currently impossible to use the phone because by keeping the volume below 20, I cannot hear what is being said due to road noise. Part of the reason I bought a GV80 was its purported connectivity, so I am pretty frustrated and disappointed.

The dealership wants to replace the "head unit," but based on what is on the board here, it does not appear that will serve any purpose. Has anyone tried that?
