  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The GV70 Trailer Hitch Discussion

In reverse the rear camera thinks you are about to collide with a bike rack or trailer ! In theory you can disable it by pressing P on the center console but it didn't work for me.In desperation I just opened the rear hatch !

Oh great. So you can't backup with a bike rack or trailer unless the rear hatch is up?
I am getting the OEM trailer Hitch without harness because I don't need the harness.
I suppose I could always park somewhere where I don't need to back up with the bike rack on.
My last vehicle (RAM Truck) would sound an alarm but you could still drive in reverse.
Does the Genesis inhibit Reverse?

No,it doesn't inhibit reverse for the first few feet. I suspect the factory harness would eliminate the problem ?
The Drawtite hitch sits very low.= below the rear valance. It may be wise to compare it to the OEM hitch height. You may need a hitch riser ? I had to use a 6" riser for a UTV trailer to get it level.

Thank you for explaining driving in reversing with a bike rack attached to the trailer hitch. My car has been in the Genesis shop in Kirkland, WA for 9 days due to their inability to get a contractor to install the hood applique (plastic hood protector). Not impressed with their service department. This trailer hitch situation is less than ideal.

The three main GV70 trailer hitch discussions have been merged. 17 pages of discussions can now be viewed in one thread.

I had the Genesis trailer hitch (without wiring harness) installed on my 2026 GV70 3.5T.
Hitch $900 + Labor $465 + Shop supplies $79.99 + Tax (10.5% in Kirkland, WA) = $1,593.83 total
My opinion of this hitch is it is a complete HACK by Genesis. Most manufactures incorporate the hitch into the rear bumper. The hitch must have been an after thought by Genesis.
I only need the hitch for a bike rack so I didn't have the wiring harness installed.
The GV70 is not heavy enough to pull much at all. Trailer max weight is 3,500lbs and 350lbs tongue limit. I would not want to pull anything that heavy with this light car. Jet skis or really small trailer...maybe.
My bike rack is an older KUAT Transfer. I looked at their website and it seems they have redesigned the hitch but not sure. Cost $489.00 which is cheap compared to their Piston racks.
Whatever bike rack you decide be sure it has plenty of rise from the receiver on the car so you don't drag your rack on the ground over bumps or driving up or down ramps.
I like the car. I was looking for a compact luxury SUV because I live in a big city with cramped parking. Some of the autodrive and lane guidance is annoying. Still hard for me to trust in heavy traffic with lots of speed changes. The car is thirsty for sure. Less than 18mpg driving around town. I would not recommend this car if you are a big mile driver. Premium gas in Washington is $5.00/gallon.
The strengths are the interior is very nice, car is super quiet with no rattles, sounds system is premium and the infotainment interface is huge. Superior fit and finish is what I was looking for and Genesis delivered.
Draw Tight Model 76577 made a trailer hitch for the 2025 and will probably make one for the 2026. I would have put that hitch on the car if it had been available. Save a lot of money with that one.
I would like to install front and rear dash cam and radar detector next...
David

I noticed the KUAT Transfer bike rack did not have enough rise. The exhaust would blow right into my DT Swiss Carbon rims.
Had to get an adapter with a 7" rise. Nilight makes a robust adapter with a bolt nut to tighten the assembly so it doesn't flop around

Not a clean solution as I would like but it works.
Hitch was $1600
Bike Rack $500
Tools $100

Amazon: Nilight Dual Hitch Extension with Bolt Nut Kit Fits for 2 inch Receiver Extender to 10" Max Length Adjust 7-1/2 inch Riser or Drop 4,000 lbs GTW

If someone comes up with a better solution I would like to see it

Dave

Just wanted to throw in my 5¢ here...

I just bought a beautiful Genesis GV70, and it came with the factory tow hitch. I don’t need it, so I took it off right away.
If you’re looking to add this “lovely piece of hardware” to your GV70, shoot me a PM. It’s the genuine Genesis tow hitch, part number ARF61-AU000. It sells for $619.99 + tax, but I’m letting it go for $350.
You’ll just need to get the trailer hitch harness separately—removing it from my car was more trouble than it was worth.
Prefer local pickup in the Chicago area.

I didn’t receive a flood of offers for my tow hitch. ☹ I guess I’ll have to adjust. I’m now offering it for $400, with shipping to the continental US included. Any takers?

Wondering if anyone installed a Curt hitch. It seems to look much better than anything else available in the USA and Canada.

This may be the BEST of the worst options available for the GV70 in USA/Canada. I am interested to see how it looks in multiple angles. The one reason I have not installed a hitch is how big and bad it looks.

I've been looking at the Curt also, at the suggestion of my son. Are they the providers for the oem hitch?

I’ve been looking at this hitch also and it does look better than other options including the awful OEM that Genesis sells. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. UHaul in our area sells and installs it. You need to look at the spec sheet on the UHaul site to see what it looks like (same photos as in this post).

I’m still amazed that they redesigned the back end of the 2026 GV70 2.5 a bit, but didn’t include a hidden hitch.
