  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The head unit went black. Are these repairable?

HI all. 2015 3.8 Tech sedan with 58K miles. Hyundai replaced the head unit (navigation display) under warranty 2 years ago. I think it was rebuilt. This one went black this morning. Everything works and you can change the settings but I cannot see it as it's black. Does anyone know if these are repairable? Is this solely a dealer service visit or are there any other options? Many thanks.

You can buy the non-ultimate H/U's & screens used all day long on ebay for pretty cheap... You'll get some serious sticker shock trying to source one for an Ultimate - if you can find em.

I had to have mine repaired under warranty right after I purchased it because the SiriusXM chipset was bad and kept throwing errors. Replacement cost on the invoice parted our the H/U at almost $3500 from what I remember. It would take replacement of the factory digital amp, but other than that, what else gets lost with replacing the H/U with aftermarket? I thought i remembered reading that the heads up display might not work either.....

The touch screen itself can be found on Ebay for about $200 used. If the screen is the only bad component than it should be a simple repair.

You may have to research the part number for the correct touch screen used in your model.

Example:

You might try calling Hyundai. Ask for goodwill assistance.

You could try these guys. Full disclosure, I have no history or experience with them, but they had a video on Youtube on how to remove the head-unit.

I didn't see a listing for the DH Genesis sedan, just the previous model. Seems like they know their business - worth a call, I guess.
