  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The latest GV70 still have differential and transfer case issues?

The issue with forums is they're typically posted to when someone has an issue and needs a place to vent.
Not to mention that forums also attract trolls who pretend to own the car just so they can trash-talk a brand. Typically they'll make one post bitching about something and then leave.

On my 2023 2.5T Prestige I've had a slew of issues. It also takes over a month to get an appointment at the dealer.
1. Rear differential
2. Torque converter
3. Dark chrome window trim fading, replaced but scratched paint in the process and two of the replacements have creases, still waiting for replacements
4. Moisture in headlights
5. Multiple recalls
6. Randomly lost all user settings once
7. Infotainment randomly will start with all black screen

Overall Genesis isn't quite ready for primetime as a luxury brand.
Multiple recalls, for what exactly? We have two 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige, purchased in February and we've not had a single recall for anything.

There is a seatbelt recall for the GV70. My car recall was fixed when my fuel injector went bad. ...see the consumer report link or check the my Genesis app.

I'm aware of the seatbelt recall. Neither of our cars were part of it. But my question was about the reference to "Multiple Recalls." I'm not sure any car manufacturer is immune to recalls. Certainly my 2019 Mercedes Benz E450 had some over the nearly 5 years I owned it. But again, I was asking about what has been "multiple?"

1. Torque converter. Dealer said this was limited to certain VINs. Was a major job as they had to remove the trans to get to it.
2. Seat belts. Not a biggie other than there were so many cars impacted that it slammed the dealer and they had a hard time getting enough replacement parts.
3. Software update, I believe for the remote parking assistance, not tied to infotainment. Not a biggie.

I also forgot to mention that like 30% of the time after starting to drive I hear this loud single tap noise from my windshield. Of course dealer hasn't been able to reproduce. I suspect it'll crack at some point.

Then there's also this weird pulsating noise that comes and goes when I'm moving at idle speed. Seems related to the exhaust. Again they can't reproduce, but it's been much better lately, knock on wood.

The most annoying thing has been the window trim dark trim fading thing. Apparently they charged over $6k to replace them as warranty work, but they did a really crappy job. They scratched door paint, bent some of the replacements, and surrounding trim. Now I'm waiting for new replacements and will have to live with the scratches as I don't trust them to repaint entire doors. All this from the #1 sales Genesis dealer I the US (Naples).

I may sound like the complaining type, but I've had many former BMW and Lexus models without any issues like this over many many years of ownership.

I'm sorry your experience hasn't been as fantastic as ours. Both of our 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige have been fantastic, without a single issue (as long as you don't count the June 10th settings massacre, but I was able to reconfigure everything without needing any help from Genesis).

Thank you very much, just picked the car up today and drove back 150 miles from dealership.
Car absolutely pass my expectation in every way, i couldn't believe how nicely everything was designed and drives just wonderfully. 3D dashboard just amazing and very unique also. Lastly i averaged 26.4 mpg with some light traffic.
Very i mean very happy so far :)
Well it ended up sadly and I traded the car with a chunky loss. Leave and learn I guess.

Whining noise started immediately (400-500 miles) and called nearest dealer 70 miles away and service manager told me he never heard this issue. I didn’t want a take my car there if they have no idea what they are going to look for.

So I called the dealer I bought the car from almost 140 miles away L and service manager was very nice and he knew the problem but first appointment was 1.5 month away. Okay I wait no big deal, than they called me and saying I might not (most likely not) have a loaner, I said that absolutely not going to work, if I drive to drop of my car that far and no loaner to come back.

I didn’t know what to do, plead to the dealer but they had no concern or sympathy what I was going through, car sold, put on the book, they don’t want a know you they don’t want a hear from you.

I started reading more people having this issue which some of them already fixed or changed whatever (rear differential or transfer case) problem might be, yet problem still keep coming back for them.

I just didn’t want a go that route especially considering the dealership situations. Genesis headquarters wasn't helpful either.

My GV70 is gone and I don’t want a hear or see anything related to Genesis. It’s very sad that very promising product did ended up like this for me.

We had the differential repaired under warranty earlier this week. Hopefully this corrects the problem. That has been the only warranty issue with the car. Right now we do not have any other concerns with the vehicle.

Farther up on the thread was a comment about the trim. Ours was heavily water spotted, but with a little elbow grease I fixed it. I used chrome polish...yes, the stuff you use on exhaust tips. It removed the stains and left the trim with a mirror finish. I then applied a ceramic wax. I spent well over an hour with a microfiber cloth and the chrome polish. I have found a couple of spots that I will hit again next year during my annual detailing. Just a tip if you are interested.

Well, mine was repaired a month or so ago, they replaced the rear differential, noise was gone for a bit and its back at the dealership right now getting checked because the noise came back. So that will be repair #2 of a brand new GV70 with less than 6k miles on it.
Love the car, but why is Genesis still sending a faulty part to replace already faulty parts that failed?
At least the dealership has been helpful, can't complain about them.

Hello everyone, these past few days I have been browsing forum posts and noticed that many people have mentioned issues with differentials and transfer case. I am a potential buyer of a GV70 in Vancouver, Canada. The sales representative informed me that a 2023 GV70 2.5T Prestige will arrive in 4-6 weeks and is currently "on a boat." I would like to know the possibility of encountering differential and transfer case issues with this vehicle. Alternatively, should I wait for the 2024 model of the GV70, which reportedly will have a price increase of around CAD 1500 but will have the exact same features as the 2023 model?
No. Please see my post about the existing TSB that remedies the issue.

Mine is a 2024 model bought on August 1st. It has 2700 miles on it and is going in Saturday to have the differential replaced. It is loud enough now that the radio no longer drowns out the sound. It whines from 35 mph to 85 mph now.

I don't even have my license plates for the car yet! Still has the 90 day temp tag!

thats so ridiculous.
Mine has now been at the dealer for 2 weeks, supposedly some Engineer from Genesis is coming to see it. They keep replacing it with a bad part, feels like they are trying to get rid of the thousands of bad parts they fabricated, instead of building a new one that isnt faulty.

Keep in mind that forums amplify problems. Our car had an issue which was serviced twice, but I have no idea how wide-spread it might be. Our GV70 was bought in 2021 so it was an early VIN. For example, on the Veloster N forums there are a number of posts regarding HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) failure and a spring failure in the exhaust valve. I have experienced neither issue with my VN. My VN has been trouble-free for over three years now. All manufactured items have a certain failure rate. You have to determine if this is worth the risk.

Sorry, but this is showing up on forums and multiple FB pages. I might expect this in a $20-30k car, but not in a $50k + luxury car. Add to that some of these people have had the issue multiple times, which tells us clearly the problem has been around for a while and has not been fixed.

We are not talking about a minor inconvenience, we are talking about a differential being replaced on vehicles with less than 5k miles.

Yes, I don't believe they have a fix for it. They just keep throwing parts at it and hope one of them works. There doesn't seem to be any knowledge of the underlying problem or how to correct it. That is what concerns me the most. I planned on keeping this for 15 years...

So I brought my GV70 in last Friday due to the check limited slip differential error. I called today for an update and they actually told me they’re waiting on 2 new additional parts now because the TSB for the issue was just updated this week. Hopefully the updated TSB will actually fix the issue permanently. I really want my GV70 back. The G70 is fun to drive but it’s not nearly as nice or comfortable as the GV70.

So there is another updated TSB? It is different than the one posted on another thread?

Apparently so. They told me it was just updated and now requires additional parts to fix the issue.

At just about 11k miles - bought just over 10k for my 2023 3.5 Sport Prestige. Car is absolutely fantastic, however I also have the eLSD issue. I knew about this being a potential concern and test drove it a bit before buying.

Literally leaving the lot and it popped up. Now I know why it was traded in. Most people would probably have unwinded the deal but I can’t hear a sound and it doesn’t drive different when it doesn’t happen. Hopefully it’s an easy solve.

Different TSB than the whining issue.
