  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

probably not, but had Hyundai decided to go w/ a separate brand or luxury division for the genny, a luxury SUV would be a possibility.

at any rate, i'm keeping my genny and going to trade in my camry for a mid size suv. so i'm in the market for a new suv. love the new ml 350 MB but the price is unreasonable (50-59k), not to mention the service cost on those mb's are ridiculous.

still waiting for the new 2014 santa fe's to come in to see if there are any significant upgrades or changes to them. the new ford explorer is also another suv i've been looking at, but ford's warranty is weak, giving you only 3 years or 36k bumper to bumper.

the new kia sorento's are also nice, but when i sat in one, i could feel the seat crossbar. i recall the optima seats back in 2010 being the same way- padding and cushion were inadequate. i'm 6'6 and 245, so i need a good quality seat.

any other suggestions/ i'm all ears.

Why not choose a vehicle & have the drivers seat Custom Modified?
Works every time..

U.S. News Best Cars, http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/rankings/suvs/ ranks the Buick Enclave, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Toyota Highlander in the top three followed by the Chevrolet Traverse. Luxury SUV rankings are the Lexus RX, RX Hybrid and Acura MDX. Compact SUV rankings are the Audi Q5, Infiniti EX and Acura RDX.

I cant believe the traverse is rated so high. It felt cheap, plasticy, small, and not well finished each time i have rented one.

I agree with you. According to U.S. News:

How We Rank New Cars | How We Rank Used Cars

Our new car rankings are based on a consensus of America's top automotive experts, as well as safety and reliability data. The rankings do not rely on our own tests or U.S. News editors' preferences.

We combine two types of information: published reviews from respected automotive critics and safety and reliability data from third-party sources.

For each new car in the U.S. News rankings, our editors analyze credible reviews about the new car to come up with a score representing what professional critics says about it. The reviews are gathered from major newspapers, magazines and automotive websites. For each third-party review, we score the car on three different components:

Performance. The performance score represents the reviewer's written assessment of a car's handling, braking, acceleration, ride quality and other qualitative performance measures.
Interior. The interior score represents the reviewer's written assessment of the car's interior comfort, features, cargo space, styling and build quality.
Critics' Rating. This represents the overall tone and recommendation level reviewers place on a car.

In addition to the analysis of professional reviews, we add information of particular interest to new car shoppers, such as safety and reliability data, that isn't part of the critics' qualitative reviews.

Safety. The safety score is based on a compilation of scores from leading safety rating sources, including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Reliability. The reliability score contributing to the U.S. News rankings is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).
Awards. Cars that win major automotive industry awards, such as the Motor Trend Car of the Year and North American Car of the Year, receive a bump in their Recommendation score to reflect the importance of these awards.

By the way, the Genesis dropped to a tie for the number seven spot for Luxury cars. Number two last year.

You should look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee, It's built on the ML350 chassis. I bought a new 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland last year. I absolutely love it, got the 2WD loaded
It was $39200 OTD.

thanks for your advice there. i've been noticing quite a few out there lately. will have to go test drive one. just don't like the scant warranty the domestic car makers give- 3 years, 36k.

I am on the same boat. I need a new car and was hoping to find a nice luxury SUV. I was hoping that Hyundai would have a Genesis SUV by now. I don't like any of the current SUV that Hyundai offers. I really hope that they announce one soon as the current MDX/RX is on top of my list.

If you read any review of the 2014 Acura MDX ,the concensus is the "BEST
SEAT" in the World bar none. My son is a Master Accura Tech. This is the car
for you. Magnificent is the word.

If you are leaving the Hyunday lot, consider the Pilot over the MDX. It is way better designed from a daily life use perspective. The MDX wins the aesthetics over the Pilot, but the Pilot rocks everything else.

I don't remember exactly what I paid extra for the extended warranty, it was not included in the purchase price but I felt it was well worth it, as far as I know, no other manufacturer offers this, I believe it cost me about 3K. Chrysler offers , GET THIS, A CHRYSLER
UNLIMITED MILEAGE, BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, the only exclusions are wear and tear items and paint and trim.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Have you driven a 2014 MDX? My son has driven both. The MDX is essentrially an RLX crossover. The Pilot is a traditional SUV. no reason to compare ride or handling of the two .Pilot Rocks not.

I have not seen the 2014 MDX yet. My experience is having driven and compared both prior generations of the MDX and Pilot side-by-side and having friends who own both. The Pilots of those generations have way more usable space throughout the inside, and the 3rd row in the MDXs I drove were unusable. The second row in the MDXs were OK, but I liked the Pilot more. The MDX used to be the fancied-up Pilot.

At a quick glance of the pictures, it looks like Acure is taking the 2014 MDX to more of a fat wagon design and leaving the Odyssey foundation it shared with the Pilot. If that is the case, then they would now be different cars and not appropriate for comparison.

probably not, but had Hyundai decided to go w/ a separate brand or luxury division for the genny, a luxury SUV would be a possibility.

Hyundai likely will develop at least 2 luxury CUVs (w/ at least one of them being based on the Genesis platform), but that's likely a few years away (probably won't see the 1st luxury CUV until after the new Genesis sedan, the new coupe, the RK compact sports sedan and the new Equus.

Kia already showed a luxury CUV concept, the Cross GT, so Kia may very well beat Hyundai to the punch.

tahoes and suburbans and the like too big? I swear by them. My 04 Yukon XL has not needed a single thing aside from oil changes, brakes and tires. Almost bought another instead of the genesis but decided i didnt need 2 of them.
