  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've done all of the tricks in the threads. I've unhooked the battery. I've pressed the reset button. I've even switched out the fuse. Is there a diy solution? Or can the head unit be reprogrammed? Or is there an issue with my car electrical system? Can some one on here give me a clue. I've read some of the other threads but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. Can anyone answer definitively for me Can I fix the no sound myself ( if so how? ) or do I have to replace the unit. Thanks in advance for allowing me to post this already beaten dead horse.

Clearly I didn't read that this was for intro only until I had already posted my inquiry. 1000 apologies.

Are you saying that you located the volume knob?

Yes , and it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Welcome. No problem. I moved this discussion to the correct forum. :)

Take a deep breath and provide following

  1. Which car
  2. Which year and model
If its a Hyundai genesis, did you press the volume knob, pressing it toggles on and off and rotating it changes volume.

Are you sure you are not using the temperature knob/dial instead of volume? The one on top is for Temperature and the one below is for Volume.

Also have you selected the right media for it to play?

Yes, turn the radio on ,then try to adjust the volume. I should have thought of that before now! Wow what a valuable observation, please if you have anything else this valuable, don't keep it for yourself.
Thanks

Glad to be of help, If the above didn't work, there is something called as service center, look up for one in maps, the one from Google though.

Once you find one, call them and schedule a service and take your car in for a diagnosis.

2015 Ultimate package with the larger NAV screen and control knob in the center console? Those have have a defect, I'm on my 3rd unit in 3 years. Thank goodness I had aftermarket warranty to cover it.

Interesting, what's the defect? as in what issues did you face?
On the first one failed at ~42K miles:

Started with nav screen lockup: unable to switch screens or execute functions without delay, then audio cut out, then did both and screen wend black. progressed until it was completely inoperable over the course of ~1000 miles.

second one at ~73K miles:
just went black screen while out running errands, showed the boot screen. between starts, it never came back. Radio still worked, but could not change station. Then the cell pairing went nuts and got stuck in a pairing loop that I did not initiate. Then after a hundred miles the audio cut in and out.

Others have reported similar progressive failure scenarios, all ending the same way in short order: total failure.

Just got the 3rd one installed, I'll be selling the car after this...

Oh that's not good, is it a 2015 or 2016? Also 9.2 or 8 inch?

the 9.2", which is in the "ultimate" package. It seems the 8.0 is not susceptible to this bug, different manufacturer as I recall (LG?).
