thinking about buying a 2010 Genesis 4.6

Hey guys,

Just found this forum..I am thinking of trading my 06 Impala SS for a 2010 Genesis 4.6 with tech package. The KM's on it is about 130,000KM (85,000miles for US), it is priced at $12,000.
What do you guys think? I went through the search engine and found some posts that I was reading on some pros and cons.

If I get it..anything I should change right away to avoid problems, major issues that I need to worry about?
I know for my Impala the transmission I changed twice already..

Solid car. We drove our 2011 4.6 with tech to 220,000 miles. Best car ever. However I understand from this forum that some early 4.6 V8 engines had a valve spring problem(that may be 2009 model year). At 85,000 miles some major service is due. Transmission service with new pan/filter on the German built sealed ZF transmission. Spark plugs very soon. Fuel tank air filter, fuel filter, plus normal stuff like oil/filter, engine air filter and cabin air filter. And only use OEM oil filters.

The total cost of transmission service, plugs etc could be over 1000.00 U.S.

I agree with homeofstone, after all the maintenance has been caught up on and you keep up with the maintenance schedule it should serve you plenty of trouble free miles. I found a good place online to buy a kit for the transmission flush, don't know if I can post a link to it however. I've had my 09 4.6 for a year and a half and 15k miles and all I've had to replace out of the ordinary is the rear differential pinion seal (leaking) and the aux/USB port (feedback through speakers)

I will probably get it done somewhere.
Since there will not be a warranty anymore, will transmission shops be able to do the service or will the dealer be a better option.

Dealer for transmission service or a shop that services BMW, Bentley and Land rover transmissions which also have the same ZF transmission. It does take a special fluid and equipment to perform the service correctly.

The only special equipment you need is a scanner to monitor transmission fluid temperature when checking fluid level. Other than that, all you really need is a basic socket and ratchet set with Torx bits and a fluid pump, whether it be manual or electronic. As long as you have everything necessary, it's pretty straightforward but I'm also an auto technician by trade so I may have some bias.
