  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have been thinking about getting another set of wheels for snowtires. Someone on this forum posted that the 17 inch wheels rode better with snow tires than the 18 inch wheels (I believe it was Disaster).

So I was wondering if the 17 stock wheels on the 09 3.8 Genesis would fit on the 2011 4.6 Genesis? And if the 17 inch wheels are still available for purchase?

Here is the Jwaters picture of the wheels that I would like to get.

IIRC the brake calipers on the V8 won't clear the 17" wheels.

Ditto. The calipers on the 4.6 which takes 18" wheels are much larger than the calipers in the 3.8 which takes 17" wheels.

Are you shure about this? I was told that as long as the wheels are 17.5" it should clear properly.

I'm not sure which comment you are addressing, but it has been proven that at least some 17" wheels fit and that some 17" wheels don't. There are other factors other than diameter that come into play as well. On my last car I ordered a set of rims that cleared the calipers diameter-wise, but the spokes hit the calipers. Fortunately I ordered them locally, and they just ordered a different set.

17in rims will fit the 4.6...... you must be careful of the clearance... I have a set of 17in for my winter tires.....(specs posted in another one of my threads on this same subject from last year)..

Not all models will fit, they must have a bit of "flare" to the spokes to provide clearance to the caliper....

Would like to know which wheels you purchased - any chance you can dig it up and show us? I'll search in the meantime.

Actually, I screwed up. The picture that i posted was not of a stock 3.8 2009 Genesis. Does anyone have a picture of the 2009 3.8 Stock Wheel?

Here is my 09 Premium package. As far as I know the wheels on my car (17") are the same as the base model.

the v6 has smaller front brake calipers... the v8 comes stock with 18in rims and a lot of 17in rims will not fit..but there are many that will.
