  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thinking of getting a 2014 3.8

Yeah, I'm thinking my records get mixed up with my dad since we share the same name; sans suffix. Even with a $1000 deductible on collision and damage, plus drastically reduced payouts; the cheapest I can find for full coverage is $312. Makes no sense. I'll definitely have to sit down with someone in person.

Man
you must be under 30. I have 3 cars on my insurance 0 accidents and 2 claims (someone hit my Genny while it was parked 2 years ago 2x!!) and I have full coverage for $225 a month.
not trying to be funny but call the General. Those annoying commercials come on all of the time.

LOL. I'm 32! Really, It's due to location and the minor accident this year. I've managed to finally get insured, but it's still pricey ($300) and the coverage/deductibles are disappointing. I'll stick with this for now, and check again early next year.

It seems the dealer is trying to shaft me somewhat. They're charging me $1450 for the extended warranty, and trying to convince me that a finance rate of 8.1 is "good." Lol. Hell, with my good credit and liquid assets that can't be right. Should I decline the extended warranty and shop for it on my own later? The car has roughly 54200 miles on it.

Note: Depending on the build date the original poster used 2014 may already be out of 5/60 power-train warranty since some 2014 models were actually built in 2013.

Shouldn't the warranty start when it is first bought/registered? It very well may have been bought in 2013 but could have also sat until 2015.

It could have been built in early 2013 and sold and registered in August 2013 meaning the five year warranty would be out, even though it is a 2014 model. Yes, if it sat to 2015 he has a way to go.

The car was purchased in January 30, 2014. So, I imagine I have 5 months of warranty left, yes?

Also, I managed to get a better APR from Suntrust's Lightstream at 5%. LOL. What a shock. :sneaky: I wonder if I should ditch the $1450 service contract and shop for one on my own; since I'm sure it's marked up, too.

According to CarFax, my car has 9 months, or 5,693 miles, left on the factory warranty for basic coverage. This includes installed accessories from what I understand. I assume this means electronics are covered, too. Can anyone extrapolate on this? If that's the case, I'm definitely ditching the service contract from the dealership.

Yes on the 5 months.

I don't know about the service contract. Some are good, others have limited coverage and high deductibles. Be careful in your comparison. I'd offer $1000 for it.

On a ‘14, your electronics warranty expired at 3 years/36,000 miles, so you are SOL with that aspect of your basic warranty. Me? I would get that extended warranty.

Ouch LOL could be worse but that's on the older end of 2014's. Even so, the electronics are out of warranty. If you really want to think about it, 5% is still a bit high, but there are plenty of factors that contribute to APR.

Got the car and I'm loving it. Lots of nice small details. Very smooth and quiet, plus quick for its size. The Lexicon system is pretty nice, too. Seems like a steal. Will keep updated.
