  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This doesn't look good - capsized HMA carrier

I guess no additional 2020 models anytime soon for those waiting...

Sure hope everyone is safe aboard this ship, still 4 left to rescue! Can't imagine what that would feel like being trapped in this vessel upside down! It says a fire started and was unable to be controlled; eerily similar to the dive boat off the California coast that caught fire last week.

And 4200 cars on board, wow! I wonder if this is a total loss or some cars recoverable...?? Thanks @canucklehead604 for posting this. Let us know if you hear anything else.

Cars that went in the water will be scrapped. Meantime, Todd is on his way. wrenches in hand, to get a new turbo for cheap.

I'd think they would salvage a lot of parts from them if the body was totaled.

Some cars were offloaded in Brunswick. Only cars going to Baltimore were on the ship.

Would not be surprised if ship offloaded some cars on the West Coast first.

My wife told me this morning my 2020 was probably on that ship. Supposedly this ship had Hyundai vehicles from the US made factory that after the next stop in Baltimore were ultimately destined to the Middle East area. Have not heard any actual Korean made cars were on the ship?

I'm less worried about the cars and more about the pollutants entering the water. I hope they are able to mitigate that mostly.

Chain cutting through the capsized ship near Brunswick Georgia harbor. Slow business.

Would be cool to see a documentary on this process. Too bad drone operators can’t get good aerial video of this process. Not sure of the logic prohibiting them since this is not a fire or first responder emergency issue? The damn boat has been capsized more than a year so obviously no emergency here.

a Discovery Channel docu on this would be epic. 'engineering marvels', or whatever you want to call it. doubt that will happen due to the underwriters nixing the idea. but the construction engineering involved is probably both novel and highly specialized. just look at that framework truss to support the suspended cranes...wild stuff. pricey, too

i watched the remediation docu for the Costa Concordia. cool stuff. as an Engineer by training i geek out on that stuff
