  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys i own 215 3.8 awd. Just got my front brakes rotors resurfaced and new pads from firestone about 3 weeks ago. And lately i have been getting this noise from the front. What is causing it?

Obviously, you need to take it back el pronto! That sounds like metal-on-metal contact. Call ahead to let you know you're bringing it back, so you can get in first.

I bought my Genesis as CPO. They resurfaced the front rotors and replaced front pads. I ended up replacing the rotors and pads due to pulsation when breaking. All problems gone. Yours does not sound good so take it back and have it inspected. Best would be to get new rotors IMO.

Before i took it in to get new pads. There was no sound. The reason why i got new pads was because it was worn out.

That noise is from cheap pads or terrible shimming.

Did they resurface because they were warped, worn, or had grooves in it, or was it done just because? If you can visually inspect them have a look to see if the metal pin on the brake pad is touching the rotor. It shouldn't be. Cheap pads, and lack of brake pad grease can lead to that noise also. I'm not an expert at it, but those are the first things I would have a look at on my own.

So firestone told me there was rocks and sands in between the rotor and pads. The debris caused rotors to have grooves and pretty much jacked it up. Advised me i need two new rotors and new pads. Pads will be under warranty so no charge and rotors they will work with me and take care of one of the rotor which means I pay $205 for 1 rotor. This still didnt make sense how those debris can get stock on there. Long story short. Manager calls me back sayting they will take care of both rotors for me so that was good! Looks like stuff they put on was duralast rotors and pads.

I would never go back there because they're lying to you. Rocks and sand do not wear down new pads and any iron rotors. It means whoever turned the rotors did a crappy job and then whoever installed the pads did a bad job. It's not even worth it for them to give you "free" Duralast components. Each rotor cost them $60 and the pad set was probably $40.
