  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey y'all,

I'm in the market for a used car and have been eyeing the 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate.

This one in particular: Autotrader - page unavailable

$24k for 40k miles seems like a solid deal and the black on black combination is rare to find. No warranty on this and reading some of the issues on this forum has been concerning, but nothing too bad compared to some other brands.

I only drive on weekends since i travel for work every week, but i figure this would be a fun toy to whip around LA with and the added bonus of adaptive cruise control would be helpful for long road trips throughout California this summer.

Thoughts? Much appreciated!!!!

Overall, a great car. With no warranty I'd get it checked out first. You may still have some powertrain warranty though, but limited as second owner.

The adaptive cruise control will spoil you. You still have to look out the window and steer though, but sure is nice on the highway.

The Ultimate cannot be upgraded to have CarPlay or Android Auto if that is important to you. I never use it and would rather have the other features of the Ultimate.

Seem like a fair price for a 2015 Genesis with only 40k miles. I would just buy an aftermarket full comprehensive warranty to go with it to cover any suprises that it may have. You never know with a used car what issues are lurking until it is too late.

I appreciate the reply fellas.

The no Carplay is a bummer but not a deal breaker IMO. i'm used to using my phone to get around. I like the premium feature set and compared to other luxury brands its a hell of a deal.

I'm half Korean myself, so i've seen these around a lot in Korea and the states although no 5.0's out there. Super proud that Hyundai is finally getting their act together in the design department.

I'll check out the aftermarket warranty options and see if its worth it. I won't be driving it too much like i said and will be garaged most times.

Well, the second owners only get a 5y/60k mile power-train warranty non-CPO. Depending on when his 2015 model was built he may not have any power-train warranty coverage left. My Genesis is a 2015 model that was built in late 2014 so my factory power-train warranty is expiring very soon regardless of mileage which is true for many used 2015 Genesis on the dealer lots that are not marked-up CPO models.

The dealerships use the build dates of the cars to establish warranty coverage.

Whats your thoughts on the risk of not getting an aftermarket warranty? I haven’t seen any major issues on the forums

I'm confused, why wouldn't this car have the remainder of the 5 year / 60,000 mile New Vehicle warranty? Is it a Salvage / Rebuilt title?

It had a clean title, not sure why it didnt include the warranty. Either way it sold right away :(

I'm looking at another one here in CA. CPO 29k 2k miles !! Hopefully i can grab it.
