  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have any information for why a 13k mile 4.6 would have episodes of knocking w/ chek engine light on on start-up. I turned it off immediately let it sit for a minute and restarted it without any problems. Seems to me that the motor isn't keeping any lube on crucial part for start-up. I am going to call the Dealer but I don't expect them to know much or admit to knowing much.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I searched for knocking because I thought I had read something about it once before but unable to find it now.
Thought about using one of the metal treatments to see if that helps but don't want to hurt the warranty.

My car was doing so well at avoiding the shakes that I stopped paying attention to how long I let the engine run. Then one day at work I just moved the car 30 feet and turned it off. Sure enough the next time I started it it had the shakes and check engine light. The little light in my head popped on as I thought "that's what everyone has been posting about". It worked itself out after a couple minutes running.
