  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2010 3.8 Sedan ...2nd time now it's had to have the Throttle Body replaced on it....anyone else had issues with this? I really love the car but in just 1 year of ownership it's been in for engine related problems 3 times now. I meticulously maintain the vehicle to all maintenance requirements, oil changes etc.. June 10th was it's 1 year anniversary, 18,852 miles.

Had it in the shop in April for the Throttle Body, May for the Oil Control Valve being faulty, now back in the shop yet again for another Throttle Body. They have replaced it each time with a new one, or refurbished...not 100% sure on that but they look brand new. In 1 year it has been in for non scheduled maintenance 7 times now for various reasons, all of them serious enough to require attention.

When it runs....it's by far one of the best cars I have owned for my $$, but having to return to the shop so often is becoming quite bothersome. I was seriously considering a 2012 Genny but now I'm really not sure what I wanna do.

Any feedback is appreciated :)

There is at least one major thread on this issue with a lot of posts. I would mark the part with some paint or scratch mark to make sure they are really replacing it.

As stated there are other threads on this too. If my memory is correct I think the TB and TB sensor problem is more of an issue with the 3.8 V6 than the 4.6, though I am not 100% sure. I do know that Hyundai sent out a TSB to the dealers regarding your problem.

Thanks for the info...I'll start searching for these posts...I really appreciate it :)

What was the symptoms before they replaced the trottle body?

Are they replacing the trottle body or the trottle position sensor? I just wanted to be sure.

On Thursday, my car is going back into the dealer for the rpm fluctuation at start up. I am hoping this also solves my car's throttle fluctuations while going downhill. It is becoming super annoying.

I hope this time they actually read the TSB I printed out for them. The computer reflash did nothing for the rpm fluctuation at start up. It seems like all these problems started after the computer update that was done along with the maps. It may just be coincidence.

My car is fixed! They put in a new TPS - and all is good. It was only $28 or so according to the print out. Now obviously this was covered under warranty - but I had no idea such a cheap part was making me go nearly insane!

Out of warranty labor would probably have been well over $100.
