  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know when Hyundai USA will get their 1st shipment of cars? I've seen various reports in the internet saying Summer 08 to as late as Fall 08. Any ideas?

Welcome, Lux! Yes, the v6 Genesis sedan will be available in early June and the v8 will follow in September. As long as nothing has changed since the last I heard...

That's too bad on the September time for the V8s. I was really hoping for some summer cruise time with 375hp on tap.

Welcome aboard! Well.. Consider it having some time to get real world input on the Genesis. You may not have it in time for Summer - but at least you'll know more about the car before you buy it...

That's true, the automotive press will have about 3 months to beat up some V6s and find early issues before the V8s appear. By then there will no doubt be many reviews out. I doubt I would have ever considered buying a Hyundai until hearing about the Genesis. I hope it lives up to what I've seen and read so far.

I've been watching Hyundai for a long time now.. Probably since the XG300 came around. I test drove it. Very nice, comfortable and luxurious - for the money or not. Then came the Azera - and that upped the anti even more. The Sonata impressed me as well.

Now the Genesis is another story altogether. They KNOW they've got a LOT of eyes on them. This will prove whether or not Hyundai is ready for the challenge of being competitive with the top automakers. It CAN be a game changer for the automotive industry. Let's see...

When XG300 first came into US, one of my best friend(whom I have lost contact ever since he got married) bought one and he had it for around 2 years, but it didn't really live up to his expectation. He knew about the car, since, back in Korea, people consider Grandeur(Korean name for the XG300) as the car that people with more money can drive(it was more expensive in Korea than here), but after 2 years, he got fed up(it didn't last), and bought an Isuzu Axiom instead. He also told me that one person he knew from his job had picked up a brand new Kia Sportage(the first generation), and it stopped on him on his way home after picking it up, so he had to return it and got himself a Nissan instead.

Let's hope the Genesis sedan lives up to all the hypes it's getting and lasts so that the high price is worth it. Hyundai have come a long way, that I admit, but they are still not there yet, so they will have to test and test more on this Genesis to live up to all those expectations. Sometimes, a product that is so much hyped about and expected much of comes short when it finally makes it into the public. Hense the old saying 'If expectations were too high, Dissappointment is even greater'. I hope the Genesis isn't one of them. Though I am not a fan of either Hyundai or Kia, but as Korean myself, I do have some pride hidden in me since it IS from my county. Though many people still chews down the derivative styling of the Genesis sedan, and I agree with them. It may be good if the next model year Genesis changes with some of Hyundai's OWN design cues, since the one that's comming out this year has already been finalized it seems.

Thanks for all the information. I too was hoping for a summer release of the V8 version since my lease is up by then. I will test drive V6 and see how it is.
