timing chain replacement

i have a 2012 hyundai genesis v6 3.8L with about 120k miles. Recently found out from the car dealership that i need a timing chain replaced amoonst other stuff that adds up to about 8k in reparis. Any help please!

Given the age and miles, I'd be looking at trading it rather than put 8K into it. What is the book value? Is it worth spending that much? Have you checked an independent shop?
 
Let it go. It wants to be released, do not fight it.
 
Im sorry...I have a 2012 as well and I stopped taking it to the stealership after 1 yr of ownership.
They have to be lying. Find a honest mechanic like Scotty Kilmer to have the car looked over well.
My car does not need a timing chain. Maybe the GUIDE needs to be looked at it at most.

The noise could also be from a weak timing chain tensioners. However, it usually best to change all the timing chain components when the guides and tensioners fail. Hell, it would also be best to change the oil pump as well while the timing covers are removed.
