  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone have a problem with the timing chain and if so, how many miles driven?!?

Shouldn’t have any issues with it for at least 100k, with proper maintenance.

225K and no noises yet

I only hear a quick noise when I first start after the car has sat for more than a week which is abnormal for me. Had to go to Naples, FL last week for work. Currently at 216,700+ on original everything.

Ok. Sounds good. I’m currently at 130k and I hope I can get to 200k+ …. Thanks for the response.

To, that is setting the bar super low.
Yes, I would hope any timing chain would last well past 100k with proper maintenance. I mainly just picked that number so I could say "at least" 100k. :)(y)

Haven't heard of timing chain or tensioner issues in our cars. I would expect at least 1/4 million miles out of the timing system if it's well maintained (regular oil & oil filter changes) and kept in good operating condition.

Oh Wow!!! Do you have the V6 or V8?
4.6. Looks pretty good for the mileage. Took these while doing valve cover gaskets.
