  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone timed their 4.6? Any tips and tricks? I am I the process of putting the divers side cams in and I think I have to RIP off the timing cover. I rather not because of tremendous amount of dissassembly but it seems like it's the only option as I can't see the timing chain on the lower sprocket. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I assume you have a lot of experience rebuilding this type of TAU V8. Its a very complicated engine.

no it ****ing isn't. Not even hardly complicated at all. Why do people on here keep saying that? It's not special. Our cars are not special at all. Jesus people....

I agree at least the mechanical side. Newer engines work basically the same as 10-20ish years ago. Main difference is quality, tolerances and all the electrical sensors running the show.

If you are ok diagnosing electrical circuits, these engines are not complicated. Though the 5.0 is pretty sweet 😎

I worked on aircraft in a past life so I'm pretty good at following directions. Unfortunately the hyundai service manual is not up to par with others i have used before. The engine is pretty straight forward but a pain in the ass getting to things. Right now I'm am held up trying to take the crank pulley off. I really don't feel like buying a hyundai flywheel stopper so I have used my chain strap wrench but no luck.
