  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will appreciate thoughts on buying leftover 2013 6cyl Genesis or new 2014.

Concerned with:
Premium and Technology Pkg's, which one is best or should I go ahead and order both;
Buying extended warranty;
Which tire brand to ask for;
Recommended dealerships in Fl. From Vero beach to West Palm;
Any other thoughts to bring into the sales discussion?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

I just bought a new 2013 V6 with Tech and was able to negotiate down to 37,035 before rebates - which was actually less than my target price. My came with Michelins, but having only had the car for 2 days, I really can't offer much feedback on them.

I was targeting the V6 with the Tech package for 2 reasons, 1) I like tech - a lot; 2) I figured the V6 with the Tech package is the hardest car for dealers to move (purely my own belief - I have no actual knowledge if it's true or not) and they'd be more willing to negotiate. With the 2015's coming out soon, I also figured they'd be pushing to get any of the stray 2013's off the lot as soon as possible.

Personally, I couldn't be happier - the car is great and I got the price I wanted. Best of luck to you!

Based on past experience, I believe that there is a big demand for the Tech Package on the Genesis, even on V6. However, dealers make a little more profit on heavily optioned cars, so there is usually a little more negotiating room (just a little) from that perspective (percentage wise).

In order to decide between Premium Package and Tech Package, you just have to go over each of the items and determine whether Tech Package is worth the extra bucks to you.

If you plan on keeping the car more than 3 years, I would recommend an extended Hyundai Platinum warranty since audio system and Nav warranty is only 3 years / 36K miles. You can shop around for these at any dealer (including those who sell them online), and don't have to decide immediately.

I believe that on the V6, there is only one OEM tire unless you get the Base Trim. The OEM Michelins are pretty good tires.

I bought my new 2013 Genesis 2 weeks ago. It has the tech package. After some haggling I got if for $34,000 even.

This is my second Genesis. Had a 2011 that got destroyed in a pretty serious accident. Investigators told me the way the Genesis crumpled it potentially saved our lives.

That is great to hear regarding the safety of the Genesis. Thanks for the post.

My preferences...

Get the Technology Package (includes Premium), especially if you like technology and gizmos. The DIS interface is really sweet. And, the little things like HID headlights, parking sensors, cooled seats, auto hold, LDWS, and smart cruise add up to an excellent experience.

I never buy extended warranties on new cars. But that is me.

You probably will not get a choice on the tire. Though, if you get 18" wheels, I think both the 2013 and 2014 have the Michelin Energy tires, which are very good.

Get them to throw in some freebies, like the trunk mat.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

I bought the 2013 with the Premium package. If a tech package unit had been available, I'm not sure I would have sprung for it as I was trying to keep total spend (including TTL) under $35k. The car I bought (2013 Prem white/cashmere) was $31,600 before TTL.

What I HAVE done so far is to add HID lights to the car I bought. Most everything else in the tech package fell into the "nice to have, fun to show off" category. At least for my money, others may disagree. The audio difference is two extra midrange speakers (15 total versus 17). Same amp. I wouldn't mind the DIS or electronic parking brake. The rest I can live without, although if I lived in Florida, I would give some serious thought to a cooled driver's seat.

Whatever you do, if you buy a 2013 your first stop should be to a solid detail shop for a clay and carnauba process. You "new" car's been sitting outside for almost a year.

I decided I didn't need every bell and whistle. The Premium package model more than meets my luxury needs. When you don't finance a car you tend to be a little bit more sensible in selecting the add-ons.

By the way, Sluggo, the Premium package audio system contains 14 speakers, not 15. There are other decoding differences in the head unit between the premium and tech audio system. For my needs, the premium package audio is perfectly adequate.

I agree with sluggo and PMCErnie - was happy to save a few thousand on my 2013 by going with just the Premium package. I was plenty happy with the sound of the 14-speaker system, and the Tech package seemed to have things I probably wouldn't use much (electronic brake) or didn't really want (adaptive cruise, lane departure, Blue Link). The only thing that I think I really might miss in a couple of months are the cooled seats.

If you find a 2013 with Tech and dealers really are trying to give them away per some of the postings here, I wouldn't hesitate to take it if you can't find a Premium for a couple thousand cheaper.

I never buy extended warranties. It's simply a bet for which the person you're making the bet with (the underwriter of the extended warranty) has a lot more data and information than you do.

I have a 2013 R-Spec, so I can't offer any advice on the Tech and Prem pkgs. And, just in case you decide to wander out of your West Palm to Vero area - STAY AWAY from King Hyundai in Deerfield Beach. I bought my R-SPEC there, but I'll NEVER go back there again.

Thanks for the heads-up wchettel to STAY AWAY from King Hyundai. I will be picking up a 2015 or a 2014 MY Genesis after they release the 2015. I plan on a weekend barrage of the dealers from Vero to Miami in search of the best deal.

Any tips on other dealers within these areas would be greatly appreciated.

R-Spec comes standard with the Tech Package, plus some suspension and minor trim changes.

hello folks! I am new here, so please, go easy on me :D

I am about to pull the trigger on 2013 5.0 R spec (demo) with 2516 miles on the clock. They asking ~38k. Its not that bad, is it?

exterior: Parisian Gray

The $38K is just a ridiculous "asking" price. 2014's are going for $10K off MSRP. Do not pay more than $34K +TTL.

I don't see '14 below 40k (demo of course), brand new is more like 41k and up.

You are not looking hard enough. Many have posted on this forum that 14's are going for $10K off list. Not advertised for $10K off, but selling for $10K off. You have to negotiate with them. They are professional salesman, and will not hand $10K off to you on silver platter.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I got time, no rush and not really ready to spend 38k
We'll see on Monday when I get there.

I just got another quote from another dealer;

2013 R spec ~4000 miles $33,366 he said that is his best numbers...I haven't even started telling him my numbers! :D

btw. hes got my favorite color, which is Titanium Gray

I'd never heard of adaptive speed control but I have it and love it. It's now my favorite feature.

I have been watching this car for a while and they have reduced the price from 21300 to 19400. Should I ask 18500 or something. What would be fair price to ask. Going to the dealer tomorrow morning
:confused:
2011, V8 Genesis with 39K miles not a CPO Internet price $19400
