  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have had 2 genesis sedans, the first was a 3.8 which I traded at 20,000+ miles for the 4.6 with tech package which is quite a step up.

In both cases wit the 18 inch wheels I have experienced tire noise after 10,000 miles or so, could it be the crappy Dunlops that come with these cars or what, I am not impressed with their performance.

Does anyone out there have had a similar experience?

There are many old threads and hundreds of posts on bad experiences with the Dunlop OEM tires that come with Genesis.

The OEM Dunlops definitely get noisier as they wear and 10,000 miles is getting close to their useful life span.

I've got 25k miles on mine and they are silent and ride straight as an arrow. I probably only have 5k more miles left, but I would make sure to get the tires balanced and get an alignment on the car as well.

OEM Dunlop Sp Sport 5000 tires have no manufacture tread wear warranty.

Our 2009 Genesis Sedan was in for pre-trip check and we were informed the it would not be a good idea to take the trip on tires that only had 18k miles on them due to excessive wear (already down to 4/32). No problems with the mechanical end and my wife only drives the car locally and is very easy on it.

You would think that this class of vehicle would come standard with at least a tire with a tread wear warranty.

Having to spend over 1k to put better tires on it just for the trip.

We Never were given the option when we bought it to upgrade the tires or informed of the lack of tread wear warranty.

Caveat Emptor

The Dumflops are rated about dead last on tirerack.com . My Dumflops lasted about 18,000 miles. As I have stated in another post, I am surprised that Goodyear would produce such a crap tire and then Hyundai contract for it to be put on the Genesis.

Check other threads for recommended tires from Continental, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Michelin etc.
