  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My letter from Hyundai recalling the Hankook tires arrived today. No mention of the type of tires that will be provided. If you replaced your Hankooks prior to receipt of the notification, a website address is provided to apply for reimbursement.

I previously had mine replaced with Michelin Premier tires at Discount Tire. I have not yet put enough miles on them to make a report.

My letter arrived today, also.

I had my Hankooks replaced with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06s yesterday by a Hyundai dealer. I did pay the difference between the Continentals and the Michelins.

Got mine yesterday - fortunately my stock wheels and tires were gone before 1000 miles.

Mine arrived yesterday too - only issue is that I don't own the 2015 anymore :)

No letter yet, but can I choose what tires I get from the dealer?? I see the notice of recall on myhyundai .com

Depends on the dealer. Some might give you a choice if you pay the difference between Michelin and what you want. Other dealers will only swap the Hankooks with the Michelin MXM4s.

It took some phone calls for me to find a dealer that would let me swap for the Continentals. I've got over 15 Hyundai dealers within 25 miles of me.

Just an update worth posting......in July 2015, I had all four tires replaced on my (at the time) 3 month old '15 Ultimate. The OEM's were replaced with the Continentals and all seemed fine. In November, I began to notice a bit of a drift sensation when on the highway. I didn't give it much thought until the past few days. I started losing air (about 3lbs per night) in the back right tire. I took it in this morning only to find that both rear tires are "separating" on the inside. Not only was that contributing to the sudden loss of air but also the drifting sensation. They showed me, while the car was on the lift, how you could tell. Both rear tires had a tread profile that was lower and wavey on both outer edges (but not uniform), and looked a bit recessed in the center. The rear left was actually worse, but not losing air yet. The right rear was the one losing air and, actually, had some bubbling on the side inner wall, as well.

The first thing that came to mind was.....are you friggin' kidding me? I didn't buy a $55K car to have these ridiculous problems over and over. So, now we have to have pictures taken at the dealership who did the work in July, so they can jump through the proper hoops with Hyundai and Continental to determine who will pay for this abortion. Feels like some finger-pointing is coming, but I hope they prove me wrong. Nevertheless, all the while......I'm the one inconvenienced and just don'tt have time for this. Oh yeah, they also mentioned yet another factory notice/recall for something in-dash that needs replacing and want to do that when we "do" the rear tires.

The long and short is......my patience is running short. It won't take too many more problems for me to unload this car. The shame is......it's only got 6000 miles on it since getting it last April.

Aside from the tires, what other problems do you have that would cause you to "unload" the car?

Hyundai did not build the tires. Continental will ultimately be responsible for their product. A complaint to the NHTSA would be appropriate.
