  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok. I assume its the weight of the car but i get flat spotting every morning. I have to drive for 10mins before the vibrations goes away. Any clue? I drive my car daily and threw away the stock tires already

If you purchased tires with nylon belts in the construction them you will have flat spotting. Check the sidewall of the tire for the nylon in the construction/materials statement on the tires.

Since you refuse to specify what tires you now have on your car, only a mind-reader can figure that out to give an accurate response. Not sure if mind-readers can work via Internet forum posts.

It might also help if you specify the model year, and trim level of your car, and whether you are the original owner.

It is not the nylon per se. I have had 5 Lexus vehicles. They all had michelin tires and when the car set up overnight the same thing would happen the next day. It usually only took three or four miles on the highway and they stopped. Your higher end tires (V, W, Z) rating are made from a softer rubber which grips the road better. They will flat spot. My G80 also has michelin and they do the same thing. My truck has crummy Bridgestone Dualer's and they do not flat spot. They are a cheaper tire with harder rubber and will not flat spot no matter how long the vehicle stays in the garage.

Its a 2015 3.8. Its not the tires because i have the same set on my accord, bmw and veloster. I only get the flat spotting on the genesis

The same exact tires, or the same brand? Each brand has multiple models, and sometimes different speed ratings for the same model.

My OEM Michelins have a slight tendency to slightly flat spot but it goes away quickly, never really checked but within a block. Check your tire pressures with a gauge, low pressures and low temperatures will flat spot more than high temps and pressures.

My suspicion is that Energy Saver tires, including those from Michelin, are more prone to flat spotting. Of course, Michelin makes many tires that are not advertised or branded as Energy Savers and I have never had problems with those Michelins.

Same brand and model which led me to believe if the weight was the cause

Exact same size and speed ratings? Your Genesis uses 245/45/18 low profile tires. I've not seen that size on an Accord, for example. Lower profiles are significantly more prone to flat spotting.

Im using 225/40/18 on the other cars and 245/40/20 on the genesis. I dont see the size being the issue. The bmw uses a 35 profile in the rear

i use mich pilot super sport (3rd set) on my volvo s60, and mich pilot sport a/s 3+ (staggered) on the genny, I don't have any flatspotting issues, for comparison purposes. I couldn't get the factory michs off fast enough, HATED those things, like rolling on concrete

my exact tires

+1!! When the OE's fail, I'm moving over to the mich pilot sport a/s 3+

Weight may be at least part of the problem. Are you running the speced pressure? Try adding 5# to stiffen them a bit. I'd had tires that would flat spot while the same size of a different brand would not under the same conditions. There are only two solutions that come to mind. Get a different tire or have your wife take a ten minute ride in the morning before you go out.

Since this forum doesn't see quite the action that some other vehicle forums do, I'm reviving old threads rather than creating new ones when I search for something. Makes it easier for other people to find answers when the data is in fewer places.

Toyo Proxos 4 tires on mine. Wife's has Michelin PIlot A/S 3's. Mine flatspot noticeably worse than hers. Especially after I dropped a couple of lbs of pressure to put them slightly under spec to see how they felt. I'll be adding the pressure back, but even then the first 2-3 miles are a bit more bumpy than hers.
