To those who had success getting the New Generation Key fob to Work for there 2015-2016 Genesis

Any idea if it will work on 2015 in addition to 2016? or an I SOL and have to get the 2015 part number?

i had a third party locksmith do it. Note that the other keys need to be OUT of the car while you're programming each one, don't just throw them in the cupholder while you're programming. Tell the dealer to just try to program the key as if it was one of the older style keys.

I got a locksmith in South FL if that's where your at. He's pretty good.

Thanks to everyone putting in their experience. I bought a 2015 genesis sedan and went online bought the 2018 key to get it configured. Called a locksmith he was adamat that it couldnt be done. After i hung up another locksmith called me said that it could and i met up with him to do it. He explained korean cars are kinda complicated so the scanners that alot of ppl have here dont work well with korean vehicles but that he had a very good scanner. He said it would be 50 bucks for the hyundai code regardlesa of if it worked. Then an extra 89 to program the key if it worked. I told him i read om this forum that he would have to do both keys together because they erase once you configure one. He didnt listen but went ahead with the process. Truth be told i was a bit hesitant myself but it worked. Granted after he configured it you have to disconeect the scanner and then try the key. After that he did have to do it all over again cause the original key stopped working. So yes, the new genesis key works on the 2015 genesis regardless what any locksmith says. If one cant do it go to another one. Be sure to keep your code if you pay for it once because there shouldnt be a reason why you keep paying for it.

Maybe try reading the previous posts where locksmiths have successfully programmed and cut the newer FOBs.

I got mine from seller 'luckybuy2016', out of New Jersey. Looks like they no longer have them.

It came with six dvd's that had every car I think Hyundai ever made (up to 2016) and you had to painfully install all of them to get it to work. I did delete all the cars except the DH files. The disks had Daemon Tools lite included to uncompress the programs but it had a virus. If you do get one of these, find a good DTL program (without the virus) off the internet. I tried uncompressing the disks with another program and it didn't work. Needs DTL.

There are a few videos on Youtube showing the GDS/VCI tool. It includes all the cables you'll ever need but it took me an hour or so getting the drivers to recognize the interface and finally communicate with the car. The program scans the cars modules and correctly identifies the VIN. My car showed about 30 modules including two that the car didn't have. (electronic dampers and active air flap) It will show all data from each module, any fault codes and lots of helpful information including the module to program the FOB. Followed the instructions and it worked perfect the first time.

There's a ton of info included with the program including diagnosis and repair but much of it isn't accessible because it needs a dealer passcode. You can view most of it with a file manager but you can't interact with it and then have the program give you back any useful help. I can see jpegs of hundreds of screenshots of CAN bus info, which I was very interested in but sadly can't use. The program may even have an oscilloscope to view CAN bus included.

If you get one of these, the instructions tell you to NOT let it update, or it will kill the hardware. The update screen comes up every time you run it but it has a dialog box that can click 'no' to bypass. When it tries to connect to the internet, let it.

Without the dealer code, this is a very useful scan tool (made just for Hyundai) and worth the price. If someone could find us a dealer password this would be an absolute steal. I've been thinking of getting a hold of a local dealer tech and try some bribing to see what this thing is really capable of.

TSB 19-BE-006H states that the wallet key card is only available to program on an Equus. It implies that the third key program will not be available on the Genesis, but the second page states that the key card applies to the 2016 Genesis. Once again, I am confused.
Does anyone know if the Smart Key Card will work for the DH Genesis? I have a 2016, but haven't ever seen a card key.

Try a locksmith. The one who did mine just had a small machine on his desk that traced the pattern on the original. Then he popped the new key in and duplicated the pattern. Took about 5 mins.

I got mine cut at the local Ace Hardware Store! They charged $25 and it works fine.

I bought the wallet cards and the keys. My local Beverly's Ace Hardware also appears to have the machine to cut out the centers of the keys, but it was OoS. They had a traditional key grinder. I stopped by the North Hall Ace near Clermont, GA today. They had the internal grinder and an operator that knows how to use it. Since they do not have any Hyundai/KIA key blanks, I intend to bring him four key blanks to cut. I have both the spare blanks and the wallet blanks for two cars. They have a good assortment of other brand fobs and a fob programmer. Most of their fobs were about $200 out the door. Perhaps all Ace stores offer the same service.

I took my 2015 AWD, the wallet key, two previously used fobs and a new fob to the AutoNation Mall of Georgia Hyundai in Buford. I left specific instructions about what I wanted them to do. I did not explain to the dealer representative how to do it. The service advisor returned all the material to me with only the new key programed. She stated that she observed the technician try to program the wallet card, but the only key that they could program was the the new key. She stated that even the original key for this specific car and even the new key could not be programed again. If I wanted to program two fobs, I would have to purchase two new fobs and dispose of the previous fobs. This sounds absurd to me.
I think a need a second opinion! The tech bull document that I previously shared only listed my 16 model as compatible with the wallet card, but I wanted the expert technician to try to do it on my 15. It might be another $200 down the drain, or I need a more experienced locksmith, or maybe I should buy the GDS VCI and try to do it myself. What do you think?

At least I can drive it again. The attached TB provides some information on the programming procedure. It states that each key can only be assigned to one serial number, but it implies that the assigned keys can be registered again. It states the wallet key is only for the 2016. I hesitate to drop another $100 to add the wallet key until I know more. I examined the GDS software that can be downloaded from the internet but didn't see the Smart Key section.
If a reader knows how to use the GDS software to reprogram the previous keys, please let us know. The attached file appears to be a newer version of GDS than the one I saw.
