  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took a hit to my grill

Also, DFWGenny, have you thought about maybe putting something black behind the mesh grill so that the factory stock grill doesn't show? Just a thought if it's even possible

WOW!!!

The factory grill is the only appearance part on my Genny that I don't like. Your new grill looks fantastic. Hope I see it in the DFW area sometime. If mine gets broken I know what I will get.

I really like the factory grill - much better than these mesh covers, to me. To each his own :)

Thanks. It doesn't replace the grille, it clamps onto it. I had to buy a replacement grille AND the overlay cover.

I have the Signature trim, so I have a free hand with what I can do up front (no sensors), but the other person using a mesh grille cover (mrdunnehy) reports that the sensors work through the cover.

I used flat black vinyl wrap to black out the chrome accents in the grille. The included instructions suggested flat black spray paint, I wanted it reversible.

@Method101: I took the picture to give a true assessment of the look of the product as opposed to the picture online which controls the light to lessen the effect. If you have the sensors in the center, you are limited in what you can do. I could have cut out the the ribs, but I would have had to keep the bottom part because you secure the insert from the front with screws. You screw into the license plate supports. You could cover the grille with a mesh, but it would have the following issues:
  • Bugger to clean
  • Damaged by FOD
  • Block sensors

@Nikgen: You and my wife agree! :D It is a matter of personal taste. Some would rather a total black out. I left the satin chrome surround because it ties into the other trim below at the fog lights.

DFW Genny, the picture you posted with the mesh grille installed, is that with the stock grille behind it painted black?

Yes that is the stock grille behind the mesh insert. If you look at the grille, it is black with chrome highlights. I blacked out the highlights with flat black vinyl wrap which has the same effect and is reversible.
