Hello everyone, I am brand new to this forum and very happy to share with all how excited I am about taking home my 2015 Genesis 3.8 RWD in Manhattan Brown last Tuesday. I was specifically looking for the Tech Package because I wanted the upgraded leather and some of the added safety features. The dealers in my area seem to have a lot of 5.0s on the lot since everyone is opting for the efficiency of the 3.8s. That said, most of the 3.8s are equipped with the Signature Package. Well, there was one 3.8 left on the showroom floor with the Tech Package and to my surprise the Manhattan Brown color blew me away, it looks very classy and is perfect for me.

I was also considering and test drove a 2014 Lexus GS 350 (for lease) and a certified pre-owned 2012 Mercedes E350 with Premium II package (for purchase). Both of these cars could not compete with the 2015 Genesis, in fact, they came up very short in many areas.

I negotiated my lease aggressively, I did a lot of research and the deal had to be approved by the General Manager. The Finance Manager was even surprised by the numbers he saw once I got in. As part of the deal I had the dealer re-badge the "Flying H" emblem with the Genesis Emblem, they did this prior to me driving off the lot. To those wondering, I did this because it looks good, not because I am trying to hide the fact I got a Hyundai, I am proud of what Hyundai has done here. For those of you out there considering leasing a 2015, here were the terms:

36 month lease, 12,000 miles/year
MSRP: $46,535
Drive offs: $4,000 including the down payment, tax on down payment, registration/fees, and 1st month's payment
Invoice Price: $42,114.75
Net selling price with acquisition fee ($595) and cap reduction via deposit ($3,222.72): $39,487.03
RV: 58%
MF: .00123 (requires 1st tier credit)
Monthly Payment: $428.90 pre-tax / $467.50 with 9% CA tax.

I did add the excessive wear & tear insurance through Hyundai which added $16.00 per month. Hope to get to know some of you soon and look forward to answering any questions regarding my lease if anyone wants to chat. Cheers.

Congrats. Sounds like a good lease deal but the referenced approval by the GM and shocked Finance guy are pretty standard role playing in many dealerships. I do not think I have ever bought a car where the finance guy hasn't said, "wow, your really got a great deal". They usually know the deal before you enter their den. Thanks also for sharing your info in detail which is very helpful to all.

Also, what is the excessive wear & tear insurance?

Thank you ksoze, I agree with you on the role playing. Also, the finance manager definitely knew my deal by the time I sat down with him. It just felt genuine to me based on where the deal started and how this went from a high $500's quote to $467.50. I dealt with mess ups on the selling price, residual value, and money factor between 3 dealerships before securing my deal! It was definitely a learning lesson which is why I wanted to share my numbers in detail.

As for the excessive wear and tear insurance, upon returning the car at lease end I am protected with up to $5,000 (with no deductible) for any damage (up to $1,000 per item) including not having to replace the tires if there is less than 20% of the tread is remaining. In my opinion this is worth the price and peace of mind if I get a small ding, spill some coffee, get a hairline crack on any window/windshield, etc.

Great looking car.

Welcome to the forum. :welcome: Congrats on the new ride. We just spent the weekend doing a 600+ mile road trip learning all the new features these cars have. Well worth the trip to find out all the little things these cars have.

Nice, good job having them put the wing logo on the rear as they should all come like that, due to the fact of the whole exterior trim being brushed chrome finished and having a chrome H on the trunk.

That is awesome, a trip to Vegas will feel like a 20 minute ride from LA! I need to do that with my wife soon.

Congrats on your new car, you must be really smart seeing we both have the same model and color!! ;)

Congrats and enjoy!

I too have the 3.8 tech in Manhattan Brown. This is my 2nd Genesis (2009 4.6). I traded in my Equus 2011. Finally price with loyalty discount etc. was $42K less $26K trade in (52K miles). Financed the rest @2.4% First road trip I got 30mpg! I have NEVER owned a car that got that kind of mileage. I have 1000 miles on odometer. I am an aggressive driver. I am in Houston and I had to call Hyundai in CA> to find this car. It was being built and they said they would ship it to my dealership (Hub) inearly Sept. I got a callon Sept. 3 that it was on the truck out front. On Sept 5 it was in my driveway.
:D

Being a previous Equus owner, how much better or not of a car is the 2015 Genesis? Quietness? Comfort? Performance?

I have only had this car 1 month but it is quieter and very peppy even with "only"3.8 engine. The mileage is wonderful. 30 mpg on recent 2 hour highway trip. I think this is the best of the one's I have had.

Congrats on the great car and great deal!

Cool, I live in West LA and work on the Westside. I have only seen 1 on the road other than mine so far. I get a lot of looks and compliments on it. I will get my car washed this weekend and post photos this week, the tint looks great.

Cool, if you don't mind, how much did the tint cost you?

I used ceramic tint on my Genesis. It was $250 for the sides and back and an additional $100 for clear on the windshield.

This may not be totally applicable to the 3.8 as I drove the 3.3L in Korea, but I drove the 3.8 Equus and the 3.3 Genesis back-to-back on the track (literally went from one to the other in rotation), and Hyundai seems to have done a lot of work on engine "soundprint" and sound insulation on the Genesis. I know I'm re-iterating what the reviews say, but the 2015 Genesis seemed every bit as quiet and refined as the current generation Equus (which if I'm not mistaken is still based on the previous Genesis platform). Engine sound in particular sounded particularly smooth.

Guess you wont have to worry about it raining after getting the car washed! I live in the SFV.
