  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just got back from taking my Genesis on 3500 mile trip from Fort Lauderdale to Boston. The car performed beautifuly thru out the trip. Two of us drove straight thru to Boston in 21 hours and I drove back in by myself in 32 hours.

MPG was quite reasonable 25.8 averaging 75-80 mph up and 27.5 averaging 72-77 mph on the way back. Averaged 475 miles between fillups (was expecting 400-425)

Have VIM for DVD The passenger watched a movie on the way up at night. I didn't find it distracting or the need to watch it while driving. I did find myself listening to it.

Was in snow for the first 4 hours coming back and the car handled great on the interstate and the ESC came on several times on the untreated back roads. The defrost/heater/seats worked quite well with the snow and ice build up. I feel sorry people who live in the North because of tracking the snow, salt and mush into the car. I don't how they keep it clean. When I finally got above freezing in South Carolina I took it to a car wash and got rid of all the salt buildup, I couldn't stand to see my car so dirty.

First time on the long trip with SAT radio. A must for any road trip.

The GPS worked fine but will need to be updated with current information as new roadways/intersections are being completed. Locating points of interest was easy and accurate for the most part.

Used the voice comands and Bluetooth thru out the trip. Again a must for any road trip.

At 20,000 miles tires are starting to show wear. This morning I took the car to have oil change and tire rotation. Front tires are Ok but back two showing lot of wear. I thought Hyundai put on cheap tires anyway with the Dunlap. My Michelans on my Azera last to 40k. My service tech (going to him for the last 15 years at Firestone) has recommend me to go with the Turanza (Bridgestone) high performance tires designed for MB, BMW, AUDI and INFINTITY. If I do replace them it'll replace all four tires $225 per tire. 50K limited warrenty.

Of course had complements about the Genesis especially at Service stations. Even with all the ice and salt build up coming back several people admired my Genesis. Last comment in Georgia called the Genesis "_itchin car!"

I've made this trip to Boston 8 times over the last 20 years and I couldn't believe how relaxed and not stressed. I was dreading it at first but the Genesis made it fun and enjoyable in both directions. I'll find a reason to take another long trip later this year with the Genesis.

What is a VIM how does it allow the DVD to play with the car in motion?

Video In Motion. It allows you to play a video on your screen while the car is in motion. Plug and play where you disconnect harness in the back of your radio and connect to the new harness. You activate the DVD on the voice control on the steering wheel

Where would one get a VIM?

Any tech wirte up on the install?
