  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Top Speed 3.8 Sedan

Yep.... Options are good.. Knowing you can execute it at your choice. Not some busy body limiting what is obvious a auto that can handle big speeds.

Indeed.

Plus there's a lot of race tracks around Southern California. Also, out in the desert there's straight stretches of asphalt that goes on for hundreds of miles with virtually no other cars on it.

I would if I could find a way to get rid of the limiter.

Well... In the mean time, those on the sidelines of forum wussyfiscation, will add links about Joe Walsh songs (like they did in R-Spec top speed post) in hear as a tribute to your desires... 😎

If I ever own a Maserati I'm going to get a "Does 185" vanity plate.

In the meantime I'm trying to get the guys over at Seoulfulracing to mod a ECU.

Great.. Put in good word former V8 clients.

Got the Genesis up to 120mph before catching up to other cars. It was a lot of fun. The car exhaust is awesome at that speed.

I think it could have easily gotten to 140-150+ before it stopped pulling(HARD). Hitting the limiter would be no problem. The car was remarkably stable at 120. Not much wind noise or vibration at all. Felt like a Euro-car that could cruise at that speed all day on the autobahn.

Also, I was thinking, on american roads I can see using that speed to quickly pass a car or leaving behind some jerk drivers, but 120 is incredibly fast compared to others doing 70-80mph.

I still have the hankooks so my limiter is still at 149, but if i had to get the recall done and get the michelins, i wouldn't car if they moved my limiter to 130.

in the time it takes to get going that fast, your going to come to a curve or other cars that will make you slow down.

Depends on where you live. Here in SoCal on a run to Palm Springs from Los Angeles one evening on a lonely desert road I got in the middle of a convoy with a new BMW 7 series leading, followed by me, followed by a newer Maserati. I had my cruise control on around 110 or so and we were like that for a good 20 minutes. Nobody else on the road.

I agree the Genesis could easily cruise 120+ on the autobahn all day long. It clearly was designed for stability at speed.

BTW, have any of you notice, or felt, that other drivers might think you are a cop. When i pull up behind people going fast and tailgate, they tend to move out of my way. maybe it's the shape/color/amber DRL's, or they are just intimidated by the size...

My last car was a black ES350 with the LED strip DRL. I didn't feel like people were allowing me to pass. In the Genesis, i get a sense they are getting out of the way.

(Yes, i tend to drive fast)

The thought had occurred to me that these cars *would* make one hell of a cop car....

They would although being Korean I can't see that ever being a possibility.

I can't say I've noticed people getting out of my way but I live in LA and it's full of left lane blockers. Then again, I've been trying to curb my aggressive driving lately.

Love the smell of napalm in the evening. And the sound of red blooded men (non metro males) telling of high speed exploits and general rabble rousing.. In a "safe and secure" way :) I enjoy the comments. Keep up the activities to be able to share more experiences.

lol :d:d

I have seen several videos on youtube of V6s maxing out. It looks like 152-155MPH is the max for the V6s.
I had my 2009 Genesis V-6 to 155 MPH when a safety feature slowed me down.Protecting me from myself is just wrong.

Thought since we had one regarding the R-Spec I'd start one for us V-6 folks.... I may or may not have had mine up to 135-140ish before....

Wondering how far I could get before the electronic nanny kicks in? 155mph?
Had mine up to 254 km/h at 4k rpm
