  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently sat in my 2010 V8 w/Tech with a screwdriver in my pocket, tearing the leather in the center panel of the seat. Too much to repair.

My dealer says there is no source for the fabric, that a new seat must be purchased at over $500.

Can anyone suggest a source for the fabric so that I can simply have the upholstery folks sew in a new panel for a reasonable price?

I think dealer may be right. I ran into the same problem with my BMW. But its oem seat cover is 1200.00. 500.00 is not a bad price. You could try salvage yards.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Salvage yard is an excellent idea. It's not like the Genesis has very many interior colors. Shouldn't take much looking at all!

Tried several salvage yards which say they have a national database. Only one hit - but wrong color. Need cashmier leather. Any other suggestions?

Buy this one, then dismantle it and sell the parts...bet you coudl make out like a bandit based on the dealer prices I have seen some people post for Hyundai Genesis parts...

Your Welcome...

I think that's a good idea. This way you may not only find what you need, but also earn some money:). Here are some more places where you may find salvage Hyundai Genesis http://www.easyexport.us/salvage/hyundai/genesis/for-sale

I had an Acura RL before my Genesis and it had a torn seat - the flat part of the seat where it's perforated about five inches in length. Dealer said we had to change the whole seat bottom for a lot of money, but my Genesis dealer in SoCal found me an upholstery shop and they replaced the torn panel for $200 and change. Good as new and matched the rest of the seat perfectly. I don't know where you are, but if you are near SoCal, I can dig up their contact info. PM me.

This is obviously the best way to go. There are interior restoration specialists everywhere. Here in Richmond, VA, "The Interior Guys" could likely do this job in a flash.

Taking it to an upholstery shop was my first thought and probably what I would do if I was in your shoes. Finding a salvage seat works too though.

a GOOD UPHOLSTERY SHOP WILL HAVE BOOKS INDICATING LEATHER FOR EACH MODEL. iT PROVIDES THEM WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND OTHER CODES ALLOWING THEM TO OBTAIN A PERFECT MATCH,

Those are listed by LKQ. They have a massive facility down the street where I work (Houston TX, Aldine Westfield Area). They take in thousands of wrecked cars and dismantle them to supply the wholesale used car parts market. I was unaware that they had a retail outlet via Ebay.

Hmmm this might be worth looking into if one wanted a cooled passenger seat...

Another option is to use an interior repair specialist like "Interior Magic". Your local dealer, I would guarantee, uses a mobile repair company that refurbishes used cars for retail. If the vendor is really good, you should barely be able to tell where the damage was once repaired, and at a fraction of the cost. I had this done many times myself and was happy with the outcome. Heck of a lot cheaper, too. Hope this helps and good luck.
