  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I placed a heavy package on the back seat that had a metal edge. When I closed the door the edge dug into the perforated leather seat and left a right angled tear about 2 x 2 inches. My car is a 2011 white 4.6 with tan interior. My local upholstery shop says there is difficulty getting raw material from some manufacturers (Kia) and I told him Kia is owned by Hyundai and that may be the reason he has no samples. Do I sew the tear up and do nothing else or where can I get a piece of perf leather about 6 x 18 inches. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Try a breakers yard for a seat! --- Cover it up with a nice car rug ;)
If your very annal pay whatever it costs to repair....
Have you asked your dealer to assist?

You should have some warranty on it or something....i remember my dealer guy told me i had warranty on my seats if anything gets damaged or something like that....try asking

If the tear is not in the perforated part of the leather it can be repaired. Check with your dealer or look online for a leather repair company in your area.

A good upholstery shop can replace the complete section that is damaged. Materials are available for everything. It just takes money. My BMW seat bottoms split from age and I had them repaired like new which was ostrich hide: cost 900.00 complete repair for two sections 18" x 20".

Hyundai can replace panels on the seat with direct OEM product and match the color and grain. It probably will be expensive , but you will end up with a quality installation.

The cost of a proper repair/replace will be expensive. I think that your car insurance company can help you out under the comprehensive section of your car insurance.
