  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone in, or driving to an area of totality on April 8th? I had planned to visit family in Rochester and Buffalo but I can’t make it due to illness.

That being said, I did see the Total Eclipse back in July 20 1963 when I lived in the small fishing village of Corea Maine, (just down the road from Birch Harbor and Prospect Harbor). All in area of totality.

Great sight.

I'm in the path down here in Austin TX going to stay off the roads as it's being reported a ton of people expected to flood the city.

My sister in Rochester tells me that hotels are all booked, and people are renting out rooms.

As. For hotels, sister tells me that many of the illegal immigration’s shipped to NY City are being sent to Central and Western NY and being put up in Hotels. Business people having problems getting a hotel reservation. These are high end hotels. Not cheap.

Per the 1963 eclipse, I remember it like it was yesterday.

I’ve seen one Total Eclipse (above), one Annular Eclipse (about 45 years ago) and many Lunar Eclipse’s these are not nearly exciting.

I'm in Dallas, which is in the path. Glad I work from home!

Rent out a room or two. On the news last night, hotels in the path are getting $650 to $750 a night. At those prices, I'll wait for the movie.

Also in TX. My area has already declared a disaster area and advised residents to make sure they stock up on food, prescription meds, and be sure cars are fueled 4-5 days prior to the eclipse. They are expecting a flood of people. I’ll be staying home and watching from my backyard.

We're actually in the 95% of totality region where I live in NH, and Northern NH is 100%.
We'll avoid the crowds and stick with 95%.

Remember when eclipses weren't considered disaster areas, causes of worry and panic, food/med/supply hoarding, didn't result in the National Guard being activated or schools being cancelled and was in fact treated as an opportunity for an excellent science class, even back in 1st and 2nd grade?

Well, now they're predicting 70% cloud coverage in the DFW area, so too bad for the big spenders that are coming to the Dallas area to see it.

I think the media (for whatever reason) is making it a big deal to keep us all home.

Remember when the media didn't do stupid chit like catastrophizing every little thing, ruining so much of everything?

You too bud... contemplating an 18-20 G90 after 3 years away in a Highlander. See Re-hi for the details :)
Oh, I missed that post! If you still live where you used to (lol) let me know. We can meet up and take a few pics of our cars and/or go to shoot some guns (Range USA in Shorewood - my favorite place)

Good to see you and your gorgeous red GV70 again also!
Thank you! I didn't left, lol ....I just don't have the time as much as I used to, to spend on forums, but I'm staying logged in all the time.

Exactly why we don't watch the news anymore. They can't even give a weather forecast anymore without telling you what to wear and what activities to do. Just give me the weather forecast. I can decide the rest for myself.

Yes, this. So Much. New local weatherina tells me to be sure to have hat and scarf and gloves. What about pants? Do I need pants? Shoes? I am helpless here.
Low will be below freezing so be sure to (names standard things one does when temperature is low).

What an awesome day that was! I was visiting friends in western Ohio, and got to experience the eclipse from there. Totally surreal experience. 😁
