  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Totally inaccurate mpg readings

I have never experience any vehicle that had an mpg readout that was better than 7-10% accurate. That the OP claims two other vehicles are within 1-2% is amazing. The best way is the calculation based on number of gallons used and mileage driven. I have seen that vary by as much as 5% as well depending on the pump and it's cutoff. If the OP considers this "being lied to", he is in for a tragically disappointing life. Just drive the damn thing.

Remember when Hyundai claimed 40mpg on 3 models, then they got bashed because it was a faulty statement and had to compensate the customers who purchased those models? Same thing here.

If you read the whole thread, there are several more responses that indicate quite accurate mpg readings from their instruments.

As for my life, it has been exceeding satisfying. People like you, that take very unnecessary shots at others, are far more likely to be leading a disappointing life.

Why would you rely on the computer for MPG

???????????????????

Why not? If programmed properly, it will be very accurate.

Mine is within less than 5% every time. It reads low as much as high with actual filling. I also check with using almost the whole tank. That way a small variance in the gas pump or shut off does not create a false manual reading.

And I have gotten legit over 30mpg on highway over a 300 miles measurement. 5.0, non R-spec.
