  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bear with me on this one…Apologies for long thread. 2019 G70 Elite 2.0T. approx 33,00 mi.
When car sits/parked in bright/hot sun, I cannot start the car and drivers door handle lock button and mirror fold-out feature does not work. Tried both fobs and new batteries. Drivers door handle unlocks! When this happens the “step on brake and push start button” displays “key not detected” massage and car can only be started by the fob pressed against starter button method. I have been told there is a door lock sensor unit located above drivers seat headliner that is overheating in extremely hot conditions….maybe source of problem since this Never occurs in garage, lower temp days,in shade or cloudy days. What gives? Only started after collision center replacement of drivers door due to deer strike incident… they said repair could not cause a temperature (alone) dependent issue. What is going on? Anyone else ever have this issue? Related to defective roof sensor? Any heat-related lock/start experiences in this site? To add to my dilemma, closest Genesis is now 100 miles away in Greer/Greenville SC 😖. I am ready to go toCarMax. ANY help please!!!
Doug in Asheville. I thought I also posted this in G70 forum but don’t see it.

Sounds like it could be a bad connection that occurs when the temperature changes. I would point at the collision center causing the issue, since it didn't happen before they did the work. Maybe it's just a loose wire or connector that they didn't plug in all the way or maybe pinched a wire.

I kinda suspect repairs also. I tried to get coll shop to take door panel off and check all connections but they refuse, saying connections can not be related to high temperature occurance vs constant…. I can’t prove it is their fault so I explored/asking about roof sensor since that was offered as suggestion by a Hyundai service supervisor. This whole experience doesn’t make sense at all and I can’t just run to Genesis dealer anymore. I am totally frustrated by Genesis consolidation of dealerships since the 200 100x2) mile trip and rental car (how many days?) required for questionable source/solution does not make me anxious to try…#so I sit here using a fob pressed against start button this summer. I am SO over this. My apologies for “venting” and I just wanted to see IF anyone else has ever experienced this. Thanks to all! Doug

As an EE, let me assure you that they are wrong, though it is more common for the problem to be a low temperatures.

It reeaallly feels like they did something wrong or didn't get a connector plugged in all the way. I have the field service manuals if you want me to send you them. Just message me your email address.

Slip-Angle. Thank you for offering the field service manuals!!! Do these cover the drivers side door connections linking the handle lock button^side view mirror^start button connection (starter button “lock” without signal from handle button unlock? When this occurs it has been sitting in the hot sun for extended period and when approaching the car, the mirrors do not fold out and the door handle button does not unlock…start button sends “no start/no key detected… seems to be a circuit failure to send all “go” signals to activate start button. The fob against start button overrides and starts car. 🤔🤷🤷

I'd certainly want to pop the door panel and check connections. Shame the repair outfit did not want to help you, does not say much about their integrity.

I think I may have found a good possibility for cause/remedy for all this…. When they replaced the drivers door; they most certainly re-used the fob proximity unit. Very possible undetected damage to antenna? If this unit/antenna was/is compromised, the high heat issue could affect operating electrical (resistance?) signal only in high temp conditions. I am taking it to a competent (I trust!🙏) garage to pull door cover panel and inspect/ test with parked in direct sun for 1-2 hours. I really pray that this is the problem and then I will put onus on Collision shop to file a supplemental insurance claim for a new replacement unit…. We’ll see🥊. Thanks to all!!!! Don’t hit a deer😎
