  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had some body work done to the Genesis a couple weeks ago. The shop gave me a decent amount (vile) of the middle coat. I have about 4 spots on my car right now that are very small (about half the size of a pencil eraser) 2of which are one roof right next to the windshield.

I just opened up the vile and its almost like water. The paint sprayer told me to put 4 to 5 coats on it.... not a big deal, but it looks almost like water... Oh yeah, my car is Pearl white.

I'm wondering if the Hyundai paint pens would be better http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com/Hyundai_Touch_Up_Paint_Pen.html

Also, some rust is already setting in on the roof. How do you guys clean that up?

Thanks,

Metallic paints are very thin. You put on multiple layers. If you have rust you should remove it before adding the paint.

Give Dr Colorchip a read and do a little internet searching on the stuff. Possibly the best repair stuff around. ;) http://drcolorchip.com/

I'm wondering how rust could begin to form on a car this new, and on the roof of all places??

He said he has chips. It doesn't matter how new the car, if something chips or scratches through to the finish, it will rust.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thanks guys. Yeah, the chips are rusting.... not in large quantities though. I'm looking for something just to cover it up so the rust doesn't expand and bubble.

The hyundai accessory shop wants almost $17 shipping for a part that costs less than $10 !
This is the least expensive shipping option.

I called my dealer and they will have the same pen waiting for me when I go visit

Cost including tax: $10.55

May be a dumb question, but did you shake the paint up? It has a tendency to separate from sitting a while.

Thanks for the advice, I will do that once I pick it up from the dealership. I ordered it yesterday and will likely pick it up on Friday.
I will shake shake shake..........shake shake shake ............ shake the paint pen, shake the paint pen :)
