  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Long story short, the dealer sold me a GV70 Advanced package which I was going to pick up Monday. Well, they made a mistake and it turns out they accidentally sold the GV70 twice. Since I have bought 4 cars from them over the years, the sales manager called me and said they're going to eat the difference and give me a Sport Prestige for the same price I negotiated on the Advanced.

Sounds like a great deal and something I would probably want to do for the added cool tech, but I really was not a big fan of those 21-in tires (and the mesh seat inserts instead of all leather). I know those tires are more expensive to replace, and ding your mpg.

Am I overthinking this decision? Or should I jump in happily?

Yes, you are very much over thinking this as your getting the free upgrades. If the 21 inch wheels bother then purchase a set of 19s. That's $5K of upgrades in tech and sport appearance for free. Moving from the Advanced to SP trim is much more than 19 vs 21 inch wheels and mesh inserts.

Maybe consider a counter offer, and wait for the car you want if they take another 2500 off the Advanced. That might be a better deal for them and you get your car for a better price.

Well looks like I'm geeking out on the idea of added gadgetry, digital key, etc... so while I'm still not a fan of those tires or those mesh inserts, I think the tech is too much fun to pass up on.

My favorite thing is actually that when you do a right turn you see the camera on the right wheel well. And when you do a left turn you see the camera on the left wheel AND on the left side of that digital cluster. It's a bit weird turning right to see left which is what you're doing on the Advanced package.

Supposed to be picking it up tomorrow morning, barring any other surprises...

Absolutely do it, the Sport Prestige package is outstanding and well worth the upgrade, especially if it's FREE!

You could swap out the wheels if they bother you. I am actually looking for the 21" wheels and have a set of factory take off 19"s to sell. I would gladly trade but I am in Canada.

The lane view monitor is awesome. I have a 2020 Palisade and once I got used to that extra feature, I glance at it all the time I change lanes. One thing it also does is encourage owners to use the turn signal. Wife is still getting used to this feature on the GV70, but I'm sure once she gets accustomed to glancing at the monitor she'll love it too

The same thing happened to me with my ” blank” car, upgraded me for the same cost of what I had ordered. My problem is still to this day I don’t use 40% of what came with the upgrade. Since I plan on keeping this even while buying other vehicles, who knows I may finally test some of them out.

I thought the 21 inch wheels on my 2003 prestige would give a too hard a ride. Not the case at all. Ride is great. I get comments on the beautiful dimpled wheels all the time. They really look awesome. Get the sport

If you're getting a few upgrade TAKE IT. It's isn't just the wheels that gets upgraded you get a lot more. Buy some other wheels if you don't like the 21" that comes with it but you turn down all the other stuff that comes with it just because of the wheels would not make sense.

I have a 2022 Sport Prestige and it’s a fragile beast. I really like the looks of those big wheels but at 12000 miles, 3 of 4 have road rash that is Impossible to repair. It is just all too easy to catch a curb if you’re not paying close attention. I have even considered moving to 19” wheels but that wouldn’t be cheap. We live in Houston, so the mesh inserts are a welcome change from black leather in the sun! You do have a tough decision to make. Don’t make it on looks alone.
