Towing Weights??

Can someone tell me what the maximum "safe" weight for towing would be. I know that manual says "not recommended for towing", however I know it's okay to tow as long as you "don't overdo" it.
But what is "overdoing" it?
I'm looking at a "boat, motor, trailer package" weighing about 1500 pounds.

Might depend on how many passengers, etc you have in the car.

The engine has enough power and torque but I'm not sure the 8 speed trans. could handle it............. tongue weight is also an important value

I agree; transmission cooling would likely be a problem.

I guess that means Gene Simmons shouldn't tow.
