Im buying a 4.6 with nav for 39,200. I have a 2005 Infiniti g35 coupe, sport package, 19", and moonroof, with 36,800 miles. The NADA value is about 20k and KBB aroun 17,500. I took it in today to get appraised there ( after a week of trying to negotiate the value), and after they were done appraising it, he told me to come outside for a second and show me what they came up with. He pulled out some sonar paint gun thing and asked me if the car had any paint work (As far as i know it hasnt, i bought it used about 2 years ago), he showed me that the paint was thicked on the hood and drivers side door. Now it was completly unoticable, ive owned the car for 2 years and it never crossed my mind, the paint is beutiful. He made it seem like a pretty big deal, and then told me they could do it for 15,500. The initial offer last week was 14,000, and it seems like they wont go any higher. Is the paint issue worth thousands? Is it normal to get thousands under trade-in value?
