  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wow, its been like forever since I last posted anything on this thread. Anyway to get everyone up to snuff on my wheeling and dealing with my car escapades. I traded my fully loaded 2011 Hyundai Genesis in for a Fully loaded Sonata Hybrid last year in about the june time frame. I really missed my Genny even though I loved the fuel savings I was getting from the hybrid. My ole genesis just performed everything else so perfectly that I couldn't stop thinking about it everyday I drove in my sonata. So I decided to go back to luxury and wanted to get a used 2013 fully loaded genesis r-spec 4.6:D, but every time I wanted to wheel and deal for my sonata trade in (which had only 26,000 miles btw and in almost flawless condition) everybody had me at like $14,000 in negative equity, and would only budge by taking off up to $3,000. So I said forget Hyundai and decided to try different dealerships from Lincoln, Chrysler, Toyota, Infiniti, Lexus and a couple others. I liked the lincoln mkz hybrid, but even on a used fully loaded 2013 with over 10,000miles on it every dealership wanted close to or over $40,000 and didn't want to swallow anything above $3,000 of my negative equity. The same went for Chrysler and a new almost loaded (no moonroof) 2015 Chrysler 200 which was tight in the back seat but roomy in the front and loaded up to the gills with electronic doodads and feature goodies. I never got to test drive the 2012 infiniti M35 hybrid or the 2014 Infiniti Q50 hybrid sport, only because after giving my information over the phone they had my payments at well over $800 and close to $900, so that was definitely outta the question even though I lusted after that car a lot. I also looked into a used 2013 or 2014 loaded Toyota Avalon but the different toyota dealerships was acting a Lil to snobbish when it came to there vehicles and didn't want to come down enough on their prestigious vehicles:( and kept telling me (like many other dealerships) that Hyundai is a great vehicle and isn't quite there yet when it comes to holding its resale value. So after months of driving all around Georgia, South Carolina, and some parts of Florida, I finally landed a deal in Florida on a 2007 Lexus LS460L and immediately fell in love with it:cool: (well not really love but you know what I mean:p) Now I really know what it means to have power and ultra luxury. This car is a straight beast and its "FREAKIN HUGE"!!!!!:eek::eek: For a 2007 it's got more features then my sonata and genesis combined:cool:, but I really like it a lot and don't plan on ever trading cars again ever.:):D

You'd have a hard time finding that, as they don't exist. :)

Congrats on your purchase. I went car shopping with my father a few months ago, and he ended up with a 3 year old RX350. In the same lot was a 2007 LS460 with 101,000 miles on it. It looked brand new - those cars age very well.

Best of luck..

I was looking at an LS460 before I bought my 2013 r-spec also. It is a bit more luxurious but it costs double and actually has less power than the r-spec and is (not much) bigger and heavier. I couldn't be happier with my choice :)

I really payed attention to all the soft touch materials, the quality leather, and even some of the minor things like plastic buttons, and it made me realize that these vehicles are a spectacle to look at and a wonder to drive and to just relax in if you choose. The 19speaker Mark Levinson sound system (although only 450watts) is a marvel to listen to, but also compliments an already Amazing vehicle with a ton of features that'll put anyone in a daze. The LS460L really does age like fine wine.:)

Exactly. The only reason I got mine was because of the firesale that Hyundai was offering on new 2013's this past spring/summer. New 3.8 Tech (16 miles on the odo) for under $34k.

Congrats! The Lexus LS has the fewest defects of any vehicle made and is manufactured in the world's highest-rated factory.

I never really knew that, but is great to know. I still can't believe how blown away I am by this vehicles craftsmanship and attention to detail that the engineers and designers put into it. The 8 speed automatic transmission still shifts as smooth as butter, and all the gizmos and electronics still work (fingers crossed;)). For a vehicle that now have 90,000miles on it hasn't skipped a beat yet. (fingers double crossed:rolleyes:)

I considered the LS (2007-2008) before getting the Genesis. But then I started to read the LS forum ... lots of issues with those cars once you start to peel back the onion.

No lie, even though I never had any major problems with my Hyundai's (except my 2013 sonata hybrid's gas tank, in which the head mechanic from Hyundai assured me it wasn't a life threatening issue:rolleyes:) I never had my vehicles for that long (mileage wise). Not to say that these vehicles wasn't gonna give me any problems in the long haul (say 80,000 and over later on down the road) but you never really know unless you experienced any issues (which you will:() for yourself. If you go to any forum (and there's plenty of them ranging from cars, houses, fans, toilets, etc and so on) your gonna see people that have problems with any man made thing. People in this forum are having major problems with their Hyundai's but others are living the dream with a problem free ride. I'm glad i've had the luxury of experiencing both the genesis and Lexus, cause now I know the difference between luxury (genesis) and ultra luxury (Lexus). Both cars are amazing in there own right, but the Lexus just steps it up a whole bunch with an array of amenities & features that pamper you like a king (and queen for all the ladies:D:welcome:).

The interesting anecdote to this story is that Lexus was impressed enough with Hyundai's Ulsan, Korea manufacturing location that Lexus offered a manufacturing technology-sharing opportunity to Hyundai to share ideas. Hyundai politely declined. In effect saying, "Thanks, but we don't need you."

What is the point of this thread. If you bought a Lexus shouldnt you be over on the Lexus forum and not here? Congrats on your purchase. Im pretty sure most of us Genesis owners are very happy with their selection.

Oh trust me I'm not trying to recruit anyone to switch to Lexus homie. I'm just sharing my experience, and love talking and debating on these forums for different input and personal experiences from others no matter what car they have. We are all Truly Blessed to be able to afford these fantastic cars:) and help one another out when an issue arise, or just to be able to share an overall good experience with our luxobeasts:cool:. I'm happy for everyone here and want them to have the best experiences possible with these Amazing Machines.:grouphug:

Every car manufacturer steal ideas from one another. Just look at the genesis and equus for instance. Both of those vehicles stole ideas from lexus, bmw, mercedes, acura, etc, and mercedes, bmw, Lexus and others stole ideas from each other, and many other car manufacturers. Then come back around and steal ideas from Hyundai. I tell you its a viscous cycle that never ends, but its good for the consumer because it inspires ingenuity and competition, and in turn lower prices for us consumers in a cannibalistic market.:D
