  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Traded My G70 3.3 Sport Prestige

Wow, nice, congrats!!! Love the wheels!

How do you like your EV6?
Thanks, I like those wheels too. They're the OEM 17". I was planning to get some Enkeis, but I may stick with these (at least until I decide to go wider, haha).

My wife and I are thrilled with the EV6. It's an AWD model, so it's got plenty of power. With the warm weather, the range is about 300 miles, not that we need that 95% of the time. It's roomy, comfortable, super smooth and quiet and very torquey. I installed a home charger, and we charge it with our solar panels most of the time. I really enjoy driving it. The handling and steering aren't bad, considering.

I find the fun in the Miata is when it’s not too glued to the road - a little slip makes the car more interesting at reasonable speeds!

That’s some pretty impressive range.

I'm also going to join the club of trading a '23 G70 (with 8K miles) for a manual car, but I'm going to splurge a little more than a Miata (ha ha), in favor of a new '24 Porsche Cayman Style Edition, arriving in October. Didn't want to spend that kind of money (I wanted it fully loaded), but my daughters and wife convinced me to get it, and I reluctantly agreed. It'll REALLY HURT selling the G70, since it's in immaculate condition (it passes for new right now, down to the floor mats. Ha ha), and I'll lose my a$$, but will sell it privately to minimize the sting. By the way, is there a forum here to advertise it? Otherwise, might go with AutoTrader Private Sale Exchange, although I don't like it how hard they make it to just ask a question (having to get validated and crap).

Congrats. Once you drive that mid-engine Cayman stick, you'll forget about the G70, haha (except maybe when you need more room 😉).

Congrats, I'm sure you'll love it! Just remember that the mid-engine Porsches are like scalpels, with super-sharp handling and crazy capabilities... but they are also lacking in drama, so if you like sliding the back end around they are not the best choice.

Will the Cayman be your DD? I owned a 986 Boxster for 7 years and ~70K kms, only had two problems with the car in that time - my driver's side heating element failed, and the ignition switch broke (common issue, they used a cheap plastic VW part which also meant it was cheap to buy the replacement if you bought it in a VW box). Before the kids my wife and I took it on some major road trips and loved every minute of having that car. They are surprisingly practical as a daily driver, I've done many a Costco run in my Porsches.

Two biggest costs of ownership were depreciation and tires - depreciation is brutal on a new Porsche unless it's a GT car.

Yeah, it'd be a 'daily', but I work from home, so don't drive much. The Cayman is more noisy than the Boxster inside the cabin, unfortunately, which was in part why I sold a '16 GTS I owned. Also because it was too firm for my wife, since back then the X73 sport suspension didn't have PASM. And also because I bought it PDK. But still regretted selling it. Porsche is asking stupid money for these cars now, plus dealers are still tacking on over that on all except the base ones, so that's what I'll get. This is my build, if you're curious: 718 Cayman Style Edition | Porsche Car Configurator

I basically wanted a dual-personality car, which could be quiet with everything dialed down, and loud and agile when not. But it just doesn't exist. Ha ha. I had the Lexus LC500 on top of my list... until I drove one. It's a lumbering car, weighing 4,500 freaking pounds. It does the job of tourer well, but not the sport one. At the end, I really enjoy driving, and the 4-banger Cayman was way better than I expected, especially in manual, so decided on it, and just put up with the noise on highways. Ha ha. Will change tires to A/S4s, which should help. I also dialed down the sport options for better comfort, compared to my all sport GTS. And there's no Sport PASM on the base anyway, so got PASM, 14-way seats (vs 18), no PTV (not needed on a 2.0T, and 50-lb less weight behind), but kept 20s (std equipment), and sport chrono (for auto rev-match). And full leather interior is a must, since the plastic dash looks like crap on that car. Plus it has very nice leather, and looks and feels very luxurious. Ha ha. Not a fan of stickers, but daughters liked them, and it comes with the SE package, so will probably leave them. I didn't like Porsche doesn't offer the larger 16.9-gal tank anymore. And neither that 6th is pretty short, doing only 74 mph @ 3K rpm; that's crazy. So will have to stop for gas like on my motorcycle. Ha ha. Still feel bad spending that kind of money on a stupid car like that.

The Cayman Style Edition is a good looking Porsche. I like the Chalk paint, so here's my configuration. $103,735.00. In my dreams! LOL.

nice build! Love the wheels.

I hear your argument about driving a slow car fast being more fun, and I can understand it. the closest I came was when I had a modified C5 Z06 and my sister had a Cayman GTS. My car was definitely faster and wayyy more torquey. But when I drove her car aggressively it was just so much damn fun. The speed built slower and progressively, and the cornering was sublime. It also had a better ride quality. It was probably the most balanced feeling I ever had in a car.

But I've remained stubborn with American muscle. I've had several mustangs, 2 Trans-Am's, 2 Z06's (C5 + C6), and even a C8. And my DD for the past 7-8 has been two F150's. In fact the entire reason I bought this G70 was a woman ran a red light and T-boned me and totaled my truck, which was a 2018 F150 Supercrew XLT with the 5.0 and 10-speed. Loved the truck. Fortunately the woman's insurance company paid me only $4.5k less then I paid for it brand new back in 2018. So I went shopping and wound up with this.

As far as my current fun car in my garage it's a pristine 825hp 2017 Mustang GT premium with a long list of mods and only 5k miles on it. It's a lot of fun, 6-spd manual, but still a good amount of luxury with leather, heated and cooled seats, ambient lighting, nav, etc etc.

The G70 is of course much more luxurious and way more advanced tech and smoother driving. I really enjoy just cruising with it. The Sound system though has proven to be really odd. It totally depends on the source material. Some songs sound great, and others sound like I'm listening on a cheap radio. I used to be a bit of an audiophile and know all about feeding quality source material, but so far it seems to have no ryhme or reason. It's all over the place. Will work on figuring it out. Oh and I have a harder time getting in and out of this car then I do my mustang, lol. Also , the cooled seats are better in my mustang.

But all said and done this is a really sweet DD, I truly enjoy driving it.

Wish I could share some pics, but this forum says every file is too big, lol.
Regarding your disappointment with some of the audio music, I would have recommended you try using Apple Music through CarPlay. It's lossless stereo and MUCH better than the radio. I love it. I built maybe 7 different Playlists, including some Apple Spacial Audio stuff that takes advantage of the quality stream. Then I would use the Quantum Logic to finesse your audio, if you want to. The system itself is very good IMO. The culprit unfortunately is the bandwidth. But as you can see, a fix is there for optimal listening pleasure.
