  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys

2015, 3.8 Tech package (the one with panoramic roof, cooled seats and wood trim package...LOL) here. 142,000km on the odometer. Never done an oil change on the tranny as it says no service required and am not hard on the car at all. If anything, I'd say I'm soft on it. Easy acceleration 99% of the time.

I've been noticing a bump or almost a jerk forward (hard to explain) whenever I let go of the gas and am slowing down. It seems when the transmission shifts into a lower gear, I'm feeling that bump. Not on every gear and haven't been able to determine which gear specifically or a set speed that it does it.

Thought I'd ask here if anyone has had that issue before?

TIA for any insight.

Marc

If you want that transmission to last more than 160,000km, then the fluid needs to be changed every 100,000km at the very most. Transmission fluid does wear out and it does get contaminated with clutch material.

Thank you! That makes sense to me. Unfortunate companies direct otherwise.

Note that the 96,000 km transmission fluid change is required if you do any of A,C,D,E,F,G,H, or I
Do you ever do short trips or go up or down a hill, or any of those other things?

Guess written like that, everyone should change the fluids. I was looking at this but the only way anyone gets away with the no service needed aspect is if it is parked in the driveway all the time.

Time for a fluid change.

Thanks guys.

They say it's "lifetime" fluid.... The manufacturer figures you'll be done with the car @ 100K,

I had weird, sloppy shifting until I changed fluid & filter. That fixed most of it. Mostly. At top form, this transmission will never be confused with an 8sp. ZF. The programming just sucks.

Thanks for the reply. Have an appointment to get fluid/filter changed next week and hopefully that takes care of it.
