  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was on the highway in slower traffic last night, approaching my off-ramp. As I moved onto the ramp, I pressed the throttle far enough to normally trigger a kick-down to a lower gear to accelerate into the uphill ramp. Instead of changing gear the engine revs soared for a few seconds as though in neutral with no load, then there was a loud thump as the transmission banged back into gear. It felt like I had been rear-ended.
Anybody else had this happen in their Gen.2?
I had this same thing occur more than once in my 2012 and that resulted in a replacement transmission. I had hoped they had fixed this problem by now.

you may have sensors problem

go to the dealership and see if there is an error or not let them do Transmission Computer check

Never happened to me in my 2015 or 2016 or many 2015 loaners I've driven - all V6 AWD's.

It sounds like the transmission is slipping. I've had that happen on much older cars (usually a sign that the transmission is starting to fail), but never in the Genesis. I recommend getting your transmission checked out.

And get the typical dealer answer...can't duplicate problem---go away:)

So far it has only happened the once, but I will definitely mention it next time the car is in for service.

I'd swing by to see if your trans threw a code. That can be checked quickly.

I've had this happen to me on my 5.0. I think what you're describing is when you go over a bump or road seam. It looses traction for a second and traction control engages... that's my theory but again I'm pretty sure it has to do with uneven or bumpy surfaces. Hope this helps. Thanks, Paul

No, definitely not a Traction issue. The transmission disengaged completely and then slammed back into gear. This was a smooth highway and off-ramp.
