  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2013 Genesis 3.8 with about 92k miles on it.
I live in East Tennessee where the roads are rolling thru the mountains, I have been noticing lately that the transmission feels like it struggles quite a bit to find the right gear, when travelling over even a small incline while accelerating. Brought it to the dealership earlier this week, he claims that it is normal for this transmission. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. Hate to get over 100k miles when the powertrain warranty expires, and the transmission leave me high and dry on the side of the road.

Lastly, Mostly when it rains, or the roads are wet. The back passenger tire, even when it was brand new will not grip when making a right hand turn out of my subdivision on to the main road, or even merging on to the highway. You have to baby the car thru the right turn or the tire will spin.
Again, the dealership yesterday said that is normal, there is no posi in the rear end, and it will take 3-5 seconds of spinning before the ESC will kick in. In 3 to 5 seconds, I will be in a ditch, a little too late for ESC to kick in then.

Thank you all for your time.

I would take your problems to a another Hyundai dealer and see what they say. I would also contact Hyundai Motor America and get a case number so you can at least log your complaint in case the transmission does fail after 100K miles.

My transmission will hunt a bit on a rise with throttle pressure or cruise on. The slight rise allows the car to catch up and change gears then it will sag a bit and gear down and go through the process over again. My cure for this has been to turn off the cruise and let the speed sag slightly or apply slight throttle pressure until I crest the hill.
ESC is another story, 3-5 seconds seems like a long time as this should be fairly quick. Does it work OK in a straight line when it's raining? It's a simple wheel rotation counter coupled to a computer and to the brakes. Without positrac only 1 wheel will spin and it's highly unlikely you would lose directional control. I would be sure that it really is 3-5 seconds and if so a dealer visit may be in order.

Your ESC should kick in almost immediately. 3-5 seconds is definitely too long. However, if you are spinning that wheel for that length of time you are accelerating too quickly for conditions. Turning and unloading the inside wheel will result in wheel spin with too much throttle.
