  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Over the last month or so, I have noticed that occasionally, when I am accelerating hard at lower speeds, it feels as though the transmission "slips" and there is a reduction in power, and I am forced to release the gas pedal then repress it to start accelerating again.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and, if so, do you know the causes?

Without driving your car, it sounds like typical "drive by wire" acceleration. The gas pedal is nothing more than a sensor acting like a rheostat. Think of model trains when you were little and using the transformer to power the locomotive. The slip is more of a hesitation common with many cars today. On some other cars I've owned, you can literally smash the pedal to the floor and it takes a long second to respond. Please forgive me if you're well versed on DBW as I might be insulting your intelligence here which is clearly not my intention.

Do RPMs increase or decrease when this happens?

If RPMs decrease, watch the gages for either a TC light (meaning traction control is reducing power) or a flashing CEL (misfires). Either light can be easy to miss if you spend most of your time watching the HUD.

If RPMs increase without the car's speed increasing, then it sounds like the transmission is slipping. If so, I'd get it looked at as soon as possible. If it's slipping or misfires, you may have to take the service tech on a test drive to reproduce the problem. Otherwise, they're likely to tell you that they couldn't reproduce the problem.

I had this same issue. Please take this into the dealer as it is actually a fuel delivery issue. They will replace the fuel delivery lines and all will work.

Basically under heavy acceleration the car will slip or buck. Try doing this at any speed and push the accelerator all the way down quickly and it should happen. Fuel is not being delivered and the car bucks down.
