  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

TRANSMISSION

Ok you a have a 2 wheel drive vehicle. It sounds like your have a problem with your torque converter, you have clutch plates the transmission, they allow your engine to engage your transmission smoothly. And from what you said it sounds like it is a intermittent fault it is not happening all the time. this is a more mechanical fault so using a scan tool to detect it you may not be able to see it when it is shifting creating this fault.sounds like a mechanical fault.

This website has given me more information than the Genesis dealership, it’s sad that they are ignoring an issue that clearly needs immediate attention. So how are you so knowledgeable on this subject? Are there any recommendations for my situation?
I don’t want this G80 anymore but it’s not that easy 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀

20yrs as a milItaly maintenance supervisor. Then I worked and lived in Iraq and Afghanistan for 5 yrs working on special forces tact vehicle. I worked for a company named Oshkosh. They and engineer all types of military vehicles. I suggest you trade your vehicle in. Hope it does not create that fault the day you trade it in. Good luck

Bradley 8 thank you for your service as you served and defended the people of the United States. Thank you for your mechanical input concerning my 2017 Genesis G80.

My 2017 Genesis started the "jerk" in shifting after about 60,000 miles! The issues begin when traffic starts and suddenly slows down between 20-35 MPH and re-engagement of throttle the transmission suddenly "clunks" into gear with a noticeable jerk!
Dealer reprogrammed trans and computer with updates and issue still continues! Will dump the Genesis when I get close to 100K, if it lasts that long! So much said for a beautiful car with a cheap transmission issue!
If you don't have a transmission working properly in a luxury car, you end up driving a Ford Pinto with great styling! Bye-Bye Genesis! The USA leadership does not have a clue in sales or distribution of new dealerships in the country!
Where I plan to move, the nearest Genesis dealership is 500 miles away even though there are Hyundai dealers 50 miles away! Snobbish!
